Just finishing off configuring a new PC and I have the choice of Windows Live Mail or a clean install of Outlook 2007. I do have a wodge of old Outlook (2003) stuff from the old PC too, but would be interested in the pros and cons of each based on user experience.
Another option is to configure gmail to collect all my other email sources together, but I'm not sure that I want everything in one place like that.
Internet email = Outlook Express / Live Mail.
Corporate (Exchange) email = full Outlook.
Horses for courses.
(though TBH, you're probably better off with Thunderbird, but that wasn't the original question; see what I did there?)
I have a work address (outlook) and a 'fun' gmail account. All contact and calendar stuff goes in google calendar (and auto onto my phone) but I'm quite tempted to let gmail do everything now.
Obviously ymmv.
As Cougar alludes, Thuderbird is worth a look.
Outlook is still better than live mail imo, even for internet email.
Had thunderbird, wasn;t too impressed, I like Live mail for my home stuff. Ihave outlook at work for corporate, it's fine and all that but overkill for home use I htink
Use Outlook 2007 and download "outlook connector" for your hotmail to be accessed in outlook. It works well.
I prefer Outlook. If you travel anywhere nice to be able to compose or read stuff offline if you don't have a signal. Also easy to sync with your phone contacts and address book.
If you go for a cloud solution IMO Windows Live is better than Google as it has a reading pane and I now trust Microsoft more than Google not do snoop on or use my data in some nefarious way
