Ahhhhhhh.

I am due for an upgrade soon and was hoping to get the new Sony Z1, to replace my Arc S, but they are so damn big.

I don't want an iPhone, so what are the options for a reasonably sized, good quality mobile with a decent camera? Oh, and with a microSD card slot.

It's not the size in my hand I worry about (no double entendre here people) it's whether it'll fit in the pocket of my jeans or my DH shorts.

It's barely any smaller than the standard S4, isn't it?

How small are your jeans? An S4 fits in front or back pockets fine. I've got an S3 with an Otterbox case and it fits in my jeans alright.

I just thought if you're gonna carry it in your cycling shorts the added bump protection of the Active might work for you. Or just get a small backpack like a Dakine Shuttle to carry your important bits in?

The review I read says it doesn't actually have any extra bump protection. The main thing that makes it "Active" is it's water-resistance.

Got rid of the pack a while back and I'm not interesting in using it again, just to carry a phone in.

I'm am interested in the S4 mini, though. I really need to get to a shop and have a look at a few.

I quite like the look of the HTC One.

I've just got an xperia z. After having similar thoughts about being too big I am very happy with it. It seems to tick your other boxes so I would say check it out. I also seem to remember rumours of a mini version being promised. Waterproof too!

An S4 Mini, isn't a small S4.

As for size, I've got a Note 2 and even that fits in my jeans. If you can't make an S3/4 fit, then take your sisters jeans off.

It's smaller than the S4 and the Sony, and a similar size to my Arc S, which is about perfect.
