Currently have a Canon 100d which replaced my 1100d
Now I've got the kit lens a 18-55stm a 50mm f/1.8 and a 55-250.
The 250 I use for aviation stuff at Manny Airport and usually use the 18-55 mainly but it really struggles in low light.

Now I mainly do landscape photography which the 18-55 is fine during the daytime.

But looking for something better in low light. The 50mm is good but not wide enough.

Any suggestions? Looking at Sigma 17-50 or the Canon 17-55 or primes?

Landscape photography shouldn't be toooo inhibited by low light performance - a tripod and long shutters are the main tools of the trade.

Handheld can be helped a lot by image stabilization however, because the subject isn't moving.

Having an ultra-wide can be a really nice addition - I've got the Canon 10-18mm which is a bit of a comparative bargain.

For a replacement to the kit lens, the Canon EF-S 15-85mm is one of the better-regarded APS-C lenses.

For the longer end, I'd probably look at one of the Canon 70-200mm L lenses - there are 4 to choose from (IS and non-IS, f2.8 and f4) depending on budget.

If looking at primes, there's a good 30mm Sigma and I like the Tamron 90mm, but there are tons and tons to choose from really depending on personal preference.
Maybe worth looking at your database (in lightroom or whatever) and seeing that focal lengths you use the most.

The tamron 90mm is a mighty lens. As per the what lens for Nikon thread going on the Tamron 17-50mm is excellent also.

For landscape look into some nd grad filters and a polarised filter. Both will do more for your shots that a new lens.

Also, how much do you know about lighting and photography? If not much read up on things line the golden hour. Light makes a massive difference to a landscape shot - of the light is no good neither will the photo no matter the lens...

Aye true I think I should start using my tripod more. It was more for when I'm in Greece on the streets and bars at night the 18-55 was struggling to focus in low light even with the iso bumped up.

Also mistakenly my kit lens is the is version not the stm so when using a polarising filter the front turns so you have to keep adjusting the filter.

Another option I've thought is to replace the 18-55 with the 18-135 for a bit more length. Not any good for low light I suppose.
And maybe be a 30/35 prime for low light Street stuff.

There is a way of decoupling the focus from the shutter button and making one of the buttons on the back be the focus button.

So, I focus with that button - adjust filters etc (actually not any more as all mine focus internally but for illustration purposes) and then shoot.

Means you can use a polariser.

On a crop 35mm may be not wide enough - its about the equivalent of a 50mm on a ff - I'd opt for a 24mm giving you the 35mm equiv which I prefer for street.
