For your general home browsing, light officeing, occasional Android phone messing, i-tuning and photo twiddling duties.
Nothing wrong with that. If anything, it's completely overkill for your requirements.
PC World were flogging excess stock / refurb / returned Samsungs on eBay for about half that price that would easily do what you need.
Worth keeping an eye on them. Seller is "currys_pcworld"
My only caveat would be not to buy it (or any other laptop)from PC World online - I believe they use Yodel for delivery and I know a few people who have had a nightmare just getting it delivered. If you can get into a store I'd do that.

Nothing wrong with it, other than the widescreen aspect ratio and rather low vertical screen resolution (768) which makes browsing the web rather annoying (after taskbar, toolbars, window frame you aren't left with very much content).

Have a look through the Dell Outlet centre, I bought a Dell XPS 15z for £550, RRP is £980 ish. The only downside is that it was about a week before they sorted out the shipping and got it to me.
That HP is nice. Discrete graphics is always worth seeking out.

I'm sure it took longer than that for Dell to sort out my missus's one, she bought brand new... so don't complain.
