Hello,
I have been given a new laptop to replace my old one and have a question regarding connecting it to a monitor.
My previous laptop had one of the 11 pin monitor inputs (the one with the screws to hold it in place etc. I think its 11 pin but I may be wrong) and the connector cable had the same plug on both ends.
The new laptop has a DisplayPort input on the laptop while the monitor has the old 11 pin plug.
The question is can I buy a cable which has the displayport plug one end and the 11 pin the other or is there some piece of magical equipment that I can use to make them compatable?
I looked on Amazon but I was baffled by things. Can anyone send me a link to the correct item please?
Help is much appreciated!
you need one of these:

Might be worth getting this though if your monitor has DVI
Cheaper and digital to digital with no analogue conversion.

EDIT - this allows you to plug a normal VGA-VGA cable into it.
Brilliant, Thnaks very much for that.
