My helmet must be 6 or 7 years old. It's a met. I have a met shaped head.
What's out there that wont me look luke a mario mushroom? And how can i try a few without doing a million miles driving?
I had the same problem 2-3 years ago. My beloved Met Anaxagore 1gen was on last legs and it was impossible to buy a new pad set for it. Initially I went for Giro Xar as I liked the look of it but it didn't fit at all so sold that the same week.
Then I decided to go for the Uvex Quatro and it was it! It fits like a glove, adjusting system is brilliant and anti-insect mesh is great - I love it!
Also Uvex customer service is second to none - I lost a screw which holds front visor and contacted Uvex. The very next week I had a new screw
...along replacement pad set in my mailbox straight from Germany!
I thing my next helmet will be also Uvex.

I ordered 6 (I think, maybe more) from CRC a while ago, send the ones you don't want back. Free postage and returns if you can drop the box at Asda.
Or order a bunch in to collect in store at an Evans or something.
Try them all, leave the ones you don't like there. Did the same with knee pads. 7 pairs, I felt bad, they said don't worry - it's the best way of doing it.

You'd think they couldn't resell the returned ones as you could have dropped them, potentially rendering them unsafe...
