I got out with the Xiaomi again last weekend - popped down to the East Yorkshire coast where I grew up for a lovely sunrise. I spent a bit longer on this one, trying to be a bit more brutal with the editing (I binned some lovely footage because it didn't really fit the narrative) and also bringing some sound in. I also had a go at colour grading, which is a lot trickier in video than on a photograph!

Flying it half a kilometre out to sea was fun but a little bit scary.

More detailed blog to follow...

Really nice that.
I prefered it to the bridge as that was way too 'static' for me. Keep em coming!

Some nice shots. I enjoyed the slowly moving "geometric" compositions better than the landscapes although the camera is pretty good, isn't it? For example looking vertically down on the beach rather than a wide shot of a poxy caravan site and in your final shot I think you need to follow the 1/3 - 2/3 rule with the horizon; your shot from 0.39 to 0.44 is perfectly composed. Nice graphics too.

The yellow paint on that road was a waste of money, wasn't it!

BTW this totally illegal (I suspect) and remarkably irresponsible video is the best bridge one yet. Check out at about 1:20. 😯

Nice. I think I'd have started with the shot flying above the road (at about 30s) and finished with the next shot coming back in "backwards" over the road to give a symmetry to the start and end points.

*edit* blog added on my website: http://www.cleanslateimages.co.uk/xiaomi-drone/flying-out-to-sea/

Cheers folks. I'm very much still learning at this droning lark (and I've not done any videography in years really) so all comments are gratefully received. At some point I'll actually start going out with a plan rather than just to play.

@rogermoore Aldbrough and Mappleton, just up the coast. Tunny is on the list next time I'm out on the coast.

@eddiebaby That's pretty cool... Have you seen this one? Mental FPV. (Definitely not mine)

This guy is worth following on YouTube (he's a bit of an arse, but knows his stuff and is good at it)

Thats ace that! Thought it was Aldbrough, I live just down the road. I reckon Spurn Point would be a good location especially at high tide when the river and sea are literally a stones throw apart.

Spurn would be ace but sadly it's a no fly area. One of the first places I checked out! I grew up in Aldbrough and Hornsea, always found the coast really interesting.

This is loads better than the bridge one. LOVED the vertical shots and the sounds of the waves, really captivating!

still don't much care for the piano doodling soundtrack, but mleh, that's personal.

Here's a coastal video a buddy of mine put together...It's nice to see my local beaches of new and old strung together!

His Iceland stuff is pretty cool too!

I can't watch videos from Iceland, I get jealous (I'll definitely watch later).

Bit of a different view this morning:

What battery life do you get? I've got a few RC flying toys but a good filming drone is required.

At the moment about 16 minutes non-stop flight, which is a way off the advertised 27. But that's landing at about 35% and in fairly cold and usually pretty windy conditions, so I don't think 20 minutes plus is impossible.
