I see the new Mavic Air has launched today..price wise it sits between the Spark and Mavic Pro, but it seems to be the best of the lot, certainly for the features i want. Its FAR smaller than the Mavic Pro - almost Spark sized, only with fold down arms (yay!). I had the Mavic Pro and frankly it was too big to lug around whilst mountain biking, which is the reason i bought it.....and the size was the reason i then sold it. The other missing feature of the Mavic Pro was the lack of rear sensors...again hey presto they appear on the Air. The lesser flight time is a slight downer, but compared to the extra features above...and the 4K that the Spark doesnt have, means i may well dive in for this new one.
Looks really good. I'm coming from the opposite end as a spark own who wishes they had a little more. It looks perfect.....but......it appears it is still missing occusync and still uses wifi like the spark- though still not seen it confirmed. As someone living in the EU/UK that might be a deal breaker for me. Connectivity with the weaker power levels is definatly an issue with the spark. You learn to live with it but it would have been high on my list of features to improve.
Good PSA - I was close to buying a Spark before Christmas, and now I’ve seen the Mavic Air I’m glad I didn’t!
