I still like to read printed guides/routes, especially proper books with maps 🙂 and I am sure I am not alone!
Anyway, two new books on 'bikepacking', one for Scotland due May this year by Markus Stitz ('Bikepacking Scotland'):
https://bikepackingscotland.com/books/
and one being planned for Ireland, a follow up to David Flanagan's "Cycling in Ireland"--he has posted (on 'Irish Gravel Cycling' Fb page), this
"I have started planning the second edition of Cycling in Ireland, the rough plan is to add a number of routes with the focus on gravel and bikepacking"
which sounds great.
Any more being planned out there?
Any other recommendations of this ilk?
cheers,
Keith
I don't suppose you've got the Irish guide have you? I'm very vaguely thinking about a short trip over there and am curious about whether there's any decent off-road stuff within a day or two's pedal of Rosslare.
@IdleJon yes, in the Flanagan book there're some suggestions of off-road routes in areas to the north of Rosslare, in the Wicklow Mountains, as well as to the west, in County Waterford, around Clonmel (see also https://gravelmap.com/#9.43/52.2637/-7.3004).
The Wicklows are a short train ride north of Rosslare (on the Dublin line), take the train to Rathdrum and from there head west into the mountains, its a national park and wild camping is permitted ( https://www.nationalparks.ie/wicklow/).
cheers,
Keith
Thanks Keith. I'll take a look.
