Really liking The Magpie Salute's debut ( studio ) album ..High Water I .
Rich Robinson's new band with a couple of other Black Crowes members ..notably guitarist Marc Ford for company ..
So what would you recommend..?
I think this year has been a bit rubbish in terms of releases.
Enjoying James' new album Living in Extraordinary Times and Typhoon - Offerings was great. There have been a few in the middle I've liked but not much else.
Suede next month. Looking forward to that.
Master System - Dance Music is good, but beset with tragedy over Scott Hutchinson. I am quite good friends with the bass player in the band, so a tragic year.
Aaron Watson “live at the worlds biggest rodeo show” that’s a great album, I love live albums me.
Kenny Chesney “ songs for the saints” it’s quite a chilled out album for him, good and very replay’able.
Childish Gambino, whilst not an album he’s released an EP which is fabulous..
I’m loving Parquet Courts last album Wide Awake and Horse Feathers Appreciation
Also got the Magpie Salute on heavy rotation. Rich and Marc are incredibly talented with an amazing chemistry.
'Please Don't be Dead' by Fantastic Negrito
Super-commercial blues is normally too sickly a thing for my tastes, but this album is so good it's hard to be cynical about it 😝

Plus one for Parquet Courts, Im waiting for the new Teleman Album, out in two weeks....
Eagerly waiting Orbital's new album.
Niteworks - Air Fàir an Là
Also listening to Parquet Courts...everything they have done (including the A Savage solo album) is awesome.
I will be listening to Idles - Joy as an Act of Resistance as soon as my pre-ordered record arrives.
Liking the Fantastic Negrito album ..only 3 tracks in but have " saved " it ..
SVIIB by School of Seven Bells.
Lovely.
A few I’ve bought recently are:
Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson - Apart
Wolf Alice - Visions Of A Life
Loma - Eponymous
Lo Moon - Eponymous
Gwenno - Le Kov
Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger In The Alps
Along with those I’ve picked up some oldies that I only had on vinyl or cassette from the 70’s, like Steve Winwood - Arc Of A Diver, The Souther Hillman Furay Band, (a brand new 2018 CD issue), a bit more recent album from Mazzy Star - Seasons Of Your Day, and a Tom Waites compilation Under The Covers, a bunch of songs he didn’t write.
^^ Good that. Preferred the "Ego Death" album though.
Currently checking out Nicki Minaj "Queen". Bet I'm the only on a STW doing that 😆 Not sure if I'll make it to the end, but it's actually OK. The Perceptionists "Low Resolution" is next on the list.
Been enjoying the Underworld with Iggy Pop EP "Teatime Dub Encounters" and I'm counting down the days until the new Idles album is released (10 to go!) as the tracks they've released from it so far seem as good as those on Brutalism.

(raises hand ) Sorry to burst yr downwivdakidz bubble, grandad 😉
Checked it out yesterday to see if the music inside was on par with the cover art. I learned (again) never to judge a bauble by some boobs.
Face it, it's all reviewed in the Guardian, you edgy ****ers
I'm listening to Ghost Note Symphonies by Rise Against an awful lot at the mo.
Checked it out yesterday to see if the music inside was on par with the cover art.
Well done you. 😉 I made it to track 14 (normal album length!) Wasn't bad actually, just all a bit samey. I've only got a tiny thumbnail of the artwork, maybe should get it in higher res 😀
My actual fave album at the mo is Milo/ELUCID "Nostrum Grocers". Try that. Quite marvellous.
I do do guitars too! The Oh Sees "Smote Reverser" is blimmin good
A Perfect Circle - Eat the Elephant
I didn't like it at first. It is a bit different to their other stuff and the recording of By and Down seems a bit dull compared to others that I've heard. But, I saw them live earlier this year and they played many songs from this album. I've liked the album since!
The Oh Sees “Smote Reverser” is blimmin good
Hearing quite a lot of them on Marc Riley’s show on 6Music, liking what I’m hearing so far.
Twenty One Pilots - Pre-release copy of 'Trench'. Pretty damn good.

How to ruin an album for DezB!!
It must be crap if he plays it 😆
Feuerschwanz - Methämmer - released last friday
and powerwolf:

They did a session on his show a little while ago, they seem to think a lot of him.

It is too. Eclectically so. Heard 'C' played on R6 recently and it sucked me in.
I've been hearing stuff in there reminiscent of Melt Banana, Boredoms, then back in time thru Hawkwind, Soft Machine and even National Health in parts. Hippiethrashpunk. It's an odd one (in a great way)
Eagerly waiting Orbital’s new album.
Say what?!?!?
reminiscent of Melt Banana, Boredoms, then back in time thru Hawkwind, Soft Machine and ...
Ah, of course, explains the Marc Riley love - anything that sounds like old stuff. Can't stand his show!
Another band in a similar vein worth checking is Oneida.... some superb guitar mangling.
