Anyone driving one of these new vans yet, opinions on them? Are you getting anywhere near the 50+ mpg quoted out of them?

Seen a nearly new one up for sale and I was surprised with the amount of room in the back, easily big enough for a decent solo camper conversion/bike van.

I've an older 1.6 expert that is a POS. Gutless engine, about the same mpg is my 2.0 vivararo loaded up and on the motorway. Constant ECU lights and garage suspect fuel pump is on its way out. Terrifying in the snow and useless up slippery slopes (I have to get to remote sites up concrete tracks). Horrible driving position.

Well I suppose as an example of a completely unrelated vehicle that's useful.
Also I have a 56 plate hdi expert that's probably been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Hth.

New ones look quite nice. Haven't tried one, but interested to hear what they're like.

Thanks for the feedback, anyone here have any experience of the new models? I believe they are a totally new design so probably a bit early for reliability trends to emerge.

Reviews to watch:

I'm rather liking the kombi/minibus MPV versions (Spacetourer/Traveller), will be really good for VW to have some more competition.
