What are you watching at the moment?
Any suggestions on what to watch?
Good documentary or some sort of crime tv series I can get hooked on!
I've only just started on Netflix myself, having been laid up ill.
Just getting to the end of Narcos series 1, which is very good.
Mindhunter is an excellent series with a crime theme
Orphan Black. You're welcome.
Mindhunters, directed by David Fincher (Se7en). Soooo good!
I'm currently enjoying Mindhunter and Better call Saul.
Making a murderer is worth a watch.
Oh, and of course topically, Stranger Things.
Cheers, they’ll get me started. Mindhunter episode 1 now!
Ozark.
If you're after a crime drama:
Ozark.
Get past the first episode and Star Trek Discovery is pretty good.
Bit old now but Person of Interest
If you haven't watched peaky blinders series 1 and 2 are on Netflix. Same for Luther. You've probably already seen them though. Orphan black recommendation is good too.
Suits is quite watchable.
Homeland, stranger things, narcos are all good
Bit old now but Person of Interest
Person of Interest was fantastic. Really ended up in a totally different place to how the show started.
Mindhunter and stranger things, as said above.
Backstrom, detective show - enjoying that.
Narcos, true crime - based on the life of Pablo Escobar.
Black - Korean supernatural/cop series - subtitled and very complex, takes about 3 episodes before it starts to make sense.
Sherlock - BBC series with Benedict Cumberpatch
Making a murderer is brilliant.
I keep wondering where all the good films are - am I doing it wrong?
Narcos, stranger things & trek for me.
Suits, Bitten (trash, but eyecandy), and some royal thing about mary queen of scots (Regal maybe?) for shared viewing (is that what young people refer to as 'and chill'?)
I keep wondering where all the good films are - am I doing it wrong?
Netflix is rubbish for films and will be getting even worse in future. The company decided that they'd rather create their own content than buy the rights to movies from other studios. The creation of new original content is also the reason they've given for increasing the monthly subscription.
Ah, noted. Thanks.
Icarus for a documentary
Best I've seen in ages
and made Netflix so much the better for it, before it was been to DVD years n years before movies, now at least it is more original content.
The Expanse
Star Trek Discovery
The Good Place
Daredevil
Are my must watch series on it that the moment.
I'm still going with Killjoys as a recommendation, as I think its a bit underrated.
Currently watching Limitless. If you've ever watch the film then its a great tie-in with that.
For a bit of light/dark hearted relief:
Archer
Rick & Morty
I enjoyed watching the Black List a while ago.
suburra, narcos, ozark
The company decided that they'd rather create their own content than buy the rights to movies from other studios
That's because it's become a studio itself. If you think by dropping Transformers and replacing with the likes of 1922 and Gerald's Game - is evidence of it getting worse then it's unlikely you and I are going to agree on what constitutes a recommendation.
What can't I get in to stranger things? 1.5 episodes in and had enough.
Mindhunters is worth a watch.
Really enjoyed Marco pollo

Really enjoyed Marco pollo
Thought his name was Gus?
Icarus was really good.
Narcos
Making a murderer
Spotless
Stranger things
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul (in that order)
Bloodline
Archer
Ozark
The OA
Designated Survivor
Any of the Marvel stuff. Watch it in order, should keep you busy for a bit.
House of Cards (even though the main start is a nonce) is well worth watching.
Toast of London!!
6days is decent enough film .
Spongebobsquare pants is also popular in our house.
& when I do the ironing, a guilty pleasure is "once upon a time" - so bad it's good...;-)
A bit of a random one is Rita - a Danish version of Teachers. I really love it and can’t wait for season 4.
Also - Norsemen is funny. And another vote for Suits here - very watchable.
I'm currently on Limitless too.
Before that was Ozark, which was good.
Neither are House though.
Good timing, I've just binned NowTV (no dragons & boobs for a while) and started up Netflix.
Already watched Stranger Things, into Star Trek Discovery now.
Will put Orphan Black and Narcos on the list.
Edit: Also loving the "Skip Recap" feature. That's a winner.
What can't I get in to stranger things? 1.5 episodes in and had enough.
Because it's a huge nostalgia circle jerk, combining elements familiar to anyone born before 1983; with some seriously wooden acting (Yes, you, Winona) and one of the thinnest plot lines in contemporary drama.
I'm not sure if it's on Netflix but we're halfway through the second series of The Leftovers and it's bloody brilliant.
Not crime but The Expanse is ace.
Also get bingeing on Peaky Blinders as series 4 starts on 15th Nov. Series 3 isn't on Netflix but you can get it on iPlayer atm as they are putting it on again.
best thing on Netflix by miles is Master of None. but its neither a documentary nor a crime drama...
Valley uprising, documentary about climbing.
Unbroken, four guys riding mustangs from Mexican border to Canadian border. Watch it for the scenery, but some interesting discussion about the politics of conservation.
I didn't get into stranger things either. Stalled on iron fist too, would defenders make sense if I don't finish it? I keep holding off (plus I'm still binging peakyblinders)
Nobody mentioned my current obsession - Terrace House. It's a sort of Japanese Big Brother-style reaity TV, but unlike BB, where the residents are generally hideous chavs getting drunk and trying to mount each other, the residents of Terrace House (in fact a luxury villa on Hawaii) are people you'd be happy for your mother to meet, and relationships proceed at a snail's pace. That's sort of the attraction of the show - mostly nothing happens!
Documentary- Valley Uprising +1
Crime series- Enjoyed Queen of the South and Spotless. I gave up on Ozark.
Not a docu or crime drama but Designated Survivor is pretty good.

This is well worth a watch.
Fauda. Excellent unknown gem..
Docu- loved the 'Stop at Nothing' Lance Armstrong one
Another vote for Norsemen here, rewatching it for a second time atm
Hunt for the wilderpeople is a great film, take ten minutes to get into it, brilliant.
unfortunately i also liked californication, which i was totally surprised at because i thought it would be awful.
( i was netflix bingeing recovering from an op and watched everything)
after watching House of Cards which was superb, i know why they didnt vote for Hilary Clinton
After Narcos I got into designated survivor, surprisingly addictive, but gave up on Peaky Blinders.
Also came to say Mindhunter but looks like I've been beaten to it - great minds think a like!
If you prefer a more light-hearted take on crime - think burglary not murder, White Collar is also good for a bit of fun
Whoever mentioned master of none - so true, and a phenomenal soundtrack to go alongside it!
Does Gotham count as a crime drama?
I started watching Salvation on Netflix last night, It's a totally absurd/fantastical/unrealistic/ham acted/infuriating/unbelievable cluster **** of a program but still good fun to watch series. You'll find yourself slack jawed in disbelief at the plot development every few minutes but i kinda like it 😀
You've probably seen it already but I hadn't. Happy Valley.
Even if you think it's pish you can still enjoy it by playing Northern Cliche Bingo while it's on. More tea, fags, rain and cobbles than you could shake a night stick at.
I've also been enjoying Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt this last week. Funny, clever and very silly sitcom.
Wife also made me watch Bojack Horseman. Very, very good but it was too depressing for while I'm ill.
Have a shuftie at Wanted. Aussie crime drama thing. I'm enjoying it and it's always good to see Halifax FP on the telly. The Defenders stuff (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders ... in that order apart from delay watching the last series of Daredevil until just before you watch Defenders) is dead good. The Expanse is good too.
Suits.
7 seasons, 16 episodes per season to binge on and Meghan Markle to stare at throughout.
everyone should watch this film its a tremendous gem and not seen a film for years I recommend everyone should watchHunt for the wilderpeople
I quite enjoyed Sons of Anarchy.
And The Tudors 😳
Started Mindhunters after reading this thread. Loving it. Thanks.
Been enjoying Strange Things over the last week
It's a fun homage to all the great movies of your youth.
American vandal sounds quite silly...
Eddie the eagle
Lemony Snicket is also fun
Not outright crime but sort of crime mystery is Dirk Gently which I enjoyed.
Maybe Netflix could remake Hitchikers?

POSTED 4 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST
You mean Sarah Rafferty / Donna? Soooo much better an actor than Rachel! 😉
We got fed up of suits - the script for every episode is virtually the same and the parade of stupid swaggers, awkward walks and verbal one upmanship wore us out.
Timeless is good though.
Rick and Morty, of course.
Does anyone know if Narcos series 3 is any good, or does it fizzle out after the climax of series 2?
Narcos 3 I enjoyed as much as the first 2 and 4 will be ace if it does change location.
I assumed Narcos would be pants without Pablo, but by episode two I had pretty much forgotten about him.
Not seen the film Victoria mentioned yet. Shot in one take and very compelling. Just started season 3 of Line of Duty which is worth a go if you haven't already.
Dirk Gently and Gotham are both awesome!
I'm quite enjoying The Sinner at the mo.
My viewing plans are -
Finish off Gotham
Watch Line of Duty with the boss
Lillyhammer series 3
Peaky Blinders binge watch series 1&2
May pick up Sons Of Anarchy - did the first 3/4 series
Thanks for the heads up on Valley Rising, watched last night and thought it was great. Recommended.
If you like narcos then try el chapo
Watched first episode of alias grace last night. I'm so far intrigued, and it's getting unusual to find something my wife and I will both enjoy!
I'm quite enjoying The Sinner at the mo.
I was just going to mention that, not seen it yet but it's generating quite the buzz
I liked Daredevil
Currently nerding out on Star Trek Enterprise (Scot Bakula one)
Unbranded is great
First starnger things was great, not taking to the new one
and errr I've watched 10 seasons of Heartland (Canadian family drama with horses)...I am not a teenage girl though honest
Meru, Valley Uprising, The Barkley Marathons, Icarus, Anvil, How to sell a Banksy 🙂
Just started Iron Fist - seems OK so far.
For people with HDR TV's - why on earth do Netflix make their HDR stuff so grainy?
Luke Cage is worth a watch.
'Bloodline'.
Excellent film-noir style family/crime drama set in steamy South Florida backwaters. The wayward son and brother character is played to perfection by Ben Mendelsohn. I enjoyed 'Ozark' nearly as much for the same reasons.
Bloodline is worth sticking with if you like that kind of thing. Which reminds me I have two seasons to catch up! Hope they are on par with the first.
Someone mentioned the film 'Victoria' ... an excellent piece of film-making and more engrossing because of it's seamlessly natural tempo and plot development. Acting is first-class. Not enough 'grown-up' movies of this calibre IMO. It's like the 'anti-Hollywood pulp' type of film that prompts me to say 'they dont make movies like this anymore!'
Same goes for 'Blue is the Warmest Colour'. Another must-watch. Heartbreaking and raw love-story. Be warned - the sex-scenes are frankly depicted so maybe not one for a first date or at the parents-in-laws 😉
