I had my account compromised yesterday and it was dealt with very quickly and I created a new very secure password. This morning I had a further alert saying my primary email had changed then, five minutes later, another saying it had been changed back. I called them and they said it was probably a glitch but, coming less than 24 hours after it had genuinely been compromised, I remain suspicious that they are having more major security issues that they are hot-fixing as they happen.
Has anyone else experienced similar recently?
At the end of last year I think a large DB of credentials for sites, inc. Netflix, got into the wild and since then Netflix account compromises have happened - I don't think it's been traced back to Netflix themselves being hacked, just people using the same log in details for other sites that were hacked. Have you checked your username against haveibeenpwned.com?
Also, did you take the option to forcibly log out all devices once you were back into your Netflix account? If not then do that.
Not sure what would have caused the second warning/possible glitch email - but for sure some notification systems can lag well behind the credential/authentication management systems. From where did you change your password? Personally I'd always do a password reset from an iPad or smartphone as it's much less likely they'd be compromised (there's no guarantee though...)
I don't have a Netflix account, but I received an email saying I did. I assumed it was a phishing attack.

I know my email is 'out there' and I had a pretty secure password but I have now changed it to a *VERY* secure one.
From where did you change your password?
I did it on my Mac laptop (using LastPass and a long alpha-numeric random code).

No, these were genuinely from Netflix (I called them and they confirmed the emails originated from them).
I am putting it down to a glitch, however I am going to reset my password again in a few days just to be doubly sure.
My account was hacked 3 weeks back. Sorted out very quickly. The guy said to keep an eye on the recent device streaming activity in the account settings of Netflix.
Happened to me a few months back by some bugger in italy.
When you change your password make sure you tick the 'all devices must use new password' box. That boots all sign ins out and have to log on again

Yeah, I've had one of those too despite never having had a netflix account, and thought the same.

Good call - just done that thanks.
Interesting this has come up. My Netflix account logged me out of my TV and password isn't recognised. Still working on all other devices though.
Have you had an email notification from Netflix? I only found out because they emailed to say 'hey! we've changed your email address as requested'!
Netflix forgot password function handily differentiates between a member and non member email when you do a password reset request 🤦♂️. Really useful for attackers to discover valid accounts.
yep i was hacked on monday. Sorted very quickly.
What can someone do with hacked NF details??
1) Watch free telly.
2) Try to credential stuff the hacked details into your Paypal / bank account.
My netflix account was compromised a few weeks ago. Changed to Spanish. Called customer support and got sorted fast without any hassle.
My banking isn't online. My paypal a/c has different password and two step verification. Also only a payg credit card linked to the account so hopefully safe.
