I know there are quite a few on here who watch Netflix and use a Chromecast so has anybody got US Netflix working with Chromecast?

I use Hola on the tablet and this works fine for US content but it obviously wont work on chromecast as the chromecast cant go via the VPN.

I see a few smart DNS services like unlocator but they are $4 or 5 a month and I am slightly dubious of some of them. Can anybody recommend one, preferably a free of cheap one 😀

If you've got a Chromecast, can you not mirror the tablet's screen?

I thought you could use hola in chrome browser and then tabcast to use the VPN with the chromecast.

I had this issue & don't use Chromecast for casting Netflix from abroad...

The reason it won't work is when Chromecast picks up the local stream so if you're using hola through your browser Chromecast bypasses this & goes direct through your router, so it'll default to UK.

Not much help, but if using something like tunnelbear will help this I might consider paying for their service...

It seems you cant watch Netflix in a browser window on a tablet, it says you need to install the app. I cant see a way to turn this off.

I tried casting Netflix from a chrome window on the laptop but chromecast picks up that it is a Netflix stream and tries get it direct rather than through my open chrome tab. Again I cant see any settings to stop it doing this.

Thanks anyway, looks like I either watch on the tablet via the app (difficult if the whole family are interested in the series) or pay for a smart DNS service.

Fin - chromecast doesnt work by mirroring your screen. The app on the tablet tells it what you want to watch and it gets it direct, that's by design.
