Afternoon,
Had one for ages, and interested to know other peoples recipes. i got the festive pack for xmas so plenty of capsules but want something that still gives me a nice strength coffee in my travel mug in the morning.
I don't normally take sugar but find that a simple syrup in the coffee is a real treat. M&S do a vanilla and caramel but my favourite is Amaretto. I almost exclusively use Ristretto or Arpeggio. Don't bother with the Nespresso special flavoured coffees though in my opinion. Quite like a floater now and then(stop it!) pour foamed milk into a latte glass then extract the coffee down the side of the glass to produce a layered coffee which swirls like the Northern Lights!
Sounds good, I don't really like the cappuccino effect with all the froth. But I like the strength. However when I make this in my travel mug or mug at home it just isn't strong enough.
When I used my parents Nespresso I couldn't get a strong coffee out of it, I suspect the simple answer is you need two capsules to make a double espresso. Now I have a bean to cup machine I always do a double shot with the strength set to strong and a fairly fine grind.
If you don't like foam, make a flat white (steamed/hot milk with no froth), I normally aim for Latte which is just a little froth as I don't all the froth on a Cappucinno either.
You need to make multiple capsules in a big mug. If you run too much water through each capsule, you get a bitter tasting weak coffee. If you do that, then microwave some milk, and mix half/half.
You can buy 'lungo' capsules for a longer draw, I.e. Bigger cup.
