Off to Nerja, Spain in a couple of weeks for 10nights. Never been to Spain before.

Got a nice apartment with pools etc. Going with the inlaws and their kids. Many of them will probably be happy to sit by the pool all day and they're fussy eaters. Sitting by the pool sounds awful and I want to eat loads of nice local fayre. Also... Not a fan of kids.

Bring a bike. Or rent one there. Mountain or road, it probably won't matter. Then ride to the top of the Sierra Nevada.

is nerja where they have the caves? theyre worth a visit. i went there 2 years ago when we stayed at la herradura. granadas a nice city to visit, and you got the alhambra there. then you got the alpujarras, lovely little villages in the mountains if thats your thing? theres a few books by chris stewart about the area, 'driving over lemons' and a couple of others, well worth a read.

We went a year or two back, had some good advice off here. 🙂

The walk up Rio Chillar was lovely, and we loved eating at Jules. 🙂

I go every year and believe it or not the best place we've found is French!

Au Petit Paris it's not cheap but well worth it. The place is packed with nice bars and restaurants I can't remember having a bad meal there.

Olivia is nice too, again not cheap, if you walk up the main pedestrian area there's plenty of nice places for tapa, the one with the barrels outside is the best (can't remember the name!)

The beaches are nice and clean either side of Balcon De Europa, sea's lovely to swim in, plenty of good cycling though it's hot from June.

Top info, cheers folks.

We do a bit of walking and it appears to be a nice area for it. Wife doesn't cycle much at all (despite me having built two bikes for her). Mention of the Thai restaurant in the other thread has her excited though.

Caves are a shout, think whole family want to go. Definitely gonna walk up to Frigiliana and chillar.

Nice restaurant suggestions too. Sure I'll have a good time, beach resorts aren't usually my thing, but I'll make the most of it.

Rides tend to be up and back down again. There’s s track next to the caves you can ride up with a couple of options or another up a dried river from the Concrete factory.....takes a bit of finding

Eat? If you love seafood the fish counter at the Mercadona supermarket is to die for. Too many restaurants to mention....TA is your friend!

I'm just about to graduate and inlaws have a friends wedding to attend in Malaga, we were offered a cheap place and I'm not one to turn my nose up at an opportunity to see a part of the world I've not been before.

Cheers for all the advice folks.

Anyone walked Pico de Cielo?

Will I need to bring boots or will trail shoes do?

I’m down the road in Marbella but the terrain is similar in the mountains along the coast. I have Scarpa SLs from years ago but trail running shoes or walking shoes are my preferred choice now as the lightness and breath-ability is better in the heat.
