.....but slightly struggling be cause insurance companies not wanting to insure her due to her no longer having a valid license. I could just unsure the carer, but they want the main driver to be the owner on the V5. Does anyone have any experience with this? I assume it must be a common problem amongst the 90+ contingent.
(Full disclosure, it's my wife's granny)
FWIW, the person listed on the V5 does not have to be the owner. I think the official term is "registered keeper".
Put the car in your name with the carer on it .I can`t see anyone giving insurance to someone who has no license !
lease company own my car and hold V5, I had no problems with insurance
Oh - if the carer is the "main driver" then it'll have to be him/her as the insured person.
The carer needs to be the person who holds the policy as they're the main (only?) driver.
The insured driver doesn't need to be the registered keeper. I was the policy holder on a car that was registered to my mum a few years ago, it didn't even register as an issue when sorting the insurance.
