got a prescription, needing some varifocals. have tried some glasses on I like in boots etc. who's competitive/ provides good service online that I can compare with boots etc?
My first (and so far only) pair came from Specky Foureyes - really cheap, decent quality, but took about 5 weeks to arrive, which I think is how they keep costs down.
needing some varifocals.
If it's your first experience of varifocals I'd recommend getting them from a bricks and mortar opticians rather than online.
I got my first pair at Christmas time and had to take them back and forward a few times until they tweaked them to be right for me.
Also, they will properly weird you out for a couple of weeks until you get used to them.
Varifocals.....online.....two words that shouldn't be used in the same sentence.......
If they are for reading why varifocals ?
Will be wearing them all the time or just for reading/computer use.
reading/ computer use but the boots optician suggested varifocals as I can sit at my desk and read etc without having to whip them on and off to chat to others in the room or in meetings etc.
got my reading glasses from Boots cost £15
my normal long sight is fine - ie I can read stuff on the wall miles away.
Don't understand why the Boots optician recommended a more expensive pair of glasses?
(I need reading glasses myself but I'm waiting till I run out of arm length)
Just be careful and check out reviews.
Specky4eyes has been known to give out the wrong prescription, poorly fitted glass and moan about bad reviews online.
Just don’t. Go to someone who will measure your eyes to your frame carefully. If the focal length variation starts in the wrong place they are worthless.
Have my first pair of varifocals. In Oakley carbon frames. They cost a bike and have been fantastic. Of course I’m +5 with a gradation to +6 for near in one eye. Double astigmatism too. I’ve worn glasses for 47 years. Reading strength needed at 51.
Some interesting lateral distortions, but compared to my cycling glasses it’s nothing. Took a week to forget I was wearing them.

Because a computer (intermediate) and reading (near) prescription will be different, so the OP could either have a full varifocal of distance/inter/near or an occupational varifocal inter/near
considering the price of specs from specsavers I'm not sure that the online sites really are that much cheaper - I have a fairly easy single lens prescription and have bought from glasses direct for cheap ones no bother but varif (if/when it happens) I would go to a shop as well.
