What do you recommend? Need it to ping alerts to my phone, it's too be used in an upstairs window or mounted on the outside wall to cover the garden and out buildings.
Currently using Alfred Camera in the workshop but would like the garden covered so I can keep an eye on it.
Budget of £50/camera
Need it to have decent night vision
Blink by Amaxon
Over budget though, sorry
But it ticks those boxes
I looked at this but was put off my the extra subscription charge of £2.50-8 per month.
Ezviz cameras are cheap and work well, you'll still be paying a small subscription for recording any longer than a day or two.
The nightvision on my dads works really, really well.
You're going to have a right old ****in time if you have it ping alerts to your phone though unless you spend google nest money for the facial recognition. The rest of them will ping you whenever it rains.
Really, you want a cheap camera for recording plus a simplisafe alarm with door sensors, motion sensors and glass break sensors in the garage - then you won't get false positive pings.
I have a blink outdoor camera system. Easy to setup. I like the separate base that you can add a usb stick to.
But... if it rains it fills with water and needs three days in a jar of rice to fix. So it needs to be in a sheltered spot. Other than that it’s a-bit-shit-but-OK-ish.
The Ezviz my old man has, has weathered a full year without any downtime in terms of rain damage.
Not that price but tp-link outdoor camera. Good night vision, works in cold temps.
I think it is about 24 quid yearly for the cloud storage to save footage.
Can access the camera and see what it sees, can speak through it as well.
Decent bit of kit.
If you want to get a decent shot of someone's face, advice is not to mount it much higher than 8ft up.

Mine seems weatherproof. Doesnt txt me if its raining. You can set the sensitivity. My neighbours have one, we used it to chat this time last year. They were skiing in Japan at the time.
As with all cctv, all you end up with is an image of a yoof or 2 in a hoody with a scarf over their face just before they break in and rob you
Post incident identification is very difficult, if the police nab them 500mtrs down the road when they still have all the same clothing on, different story.
I have two blink cameras at the front of my house both have been up for around 15 months. Both work great fairly quick notification from each camera regardless of being connected via WiFi or data. Think I paid £170 for two.
We have pir sensors all over

One of ours is properly exposed and isn't full of water afaik
neos work well at the cheaper end of the market

need a cover to go outside, and maybe a longer USB cable. If you add a SD Card you don't need the paid cloud storage, but can still use the alerts

You’d know if it’s wet. The lens fogs up.
Pretty sure it’s the mic/speaker grill in the front that’s the problem. That and horizontal rain. If you have the vertical stuff that might be the difference.
Line of trees 50ft from the back of the house, so yeah, not really any horizontal rain 🙄
I have the Blink XT (XT are the outdoor ones with a better casing) and find them good for what I need. Easy to set up and use and notifications sent to a smart phone. Run off Litium AA batteries, so they're easy to maintain and service. Work with the Amazon products such as Alexa and so on.
I got 2 for my Dad recently for £120. You can add to the network as and if you wish. No ongoing fees or subscriptions.
We have 2 tapo (tp-link) c100 in the house for the kids rooms as they were cheap. Having just chucked a couple of m-sd cards in them the recording function works a dream. Alert function works but notifications don't show unless you are in the app. @£20 each I like them. Outdoor version is £50 so will give it a go when we move.
We use blink xt outdoor cameras, we've had them for 14 months now. we have 3 of them, they work well, and dont fill with water, there's also no ongoing subscription charge on the blink xt range (unlike their newest set of cameras).
I have a Wanview, cost about £30 (Amazon) and it sends notifications to my phone. Can also watch it live on the phone.
