So many on Amazon all seem similar.Need something for working on bikes/car etc in the winter months.I've seen the autoexpress 2018 review which looks at slimline models but I'm unsure if they're bright enough .I did think about using one of my superbright bike lights but wonder about overheating if stationary all the time?
I use my exposure diablo with the little "Beacon diffuser" thing on that exposure do, works OK though need something to stop it rolling about. Also used as a camping light. I didn't see the point of buying something else (probably) inferior even if slightly better suited. Gets warm but not been a problem, no more than on the bike.
My current fave in dinjy engine rooms. Very bright indeed.

Just use a headlight, most allow the light to swivel up and down to allow the light to be focused in the most appropriate spot. If I’m doing some close-up repair work or making something I usually use a headlight with a pair of 3x reading glasses. Never hurts to have a small flashlight for extra illumination as well. Olight do a neat little torch that takes a single AAA battery, and the pocket clip also allows it to clip onto the bill of a baseball cap if both hands are needed. Puts out 180 lumens on full power:
While it’s not a rechargeable Light, you can use rechargeable cells easily enough.
These Makita 18v work lights are dope!
Brilliant thing. Mega bright, the light head pivots and twists wherever you want, it has a fold out hook on the top which is perfect for an engine bay, and it's very sturdy on the battery base.
Awesome light. You could buy it bare for I think about thirty quid and get a Makita-esque battery if you've got no Makita stuff.
The Screwfix rechargeable work lights are seriously bright and reasonably priced.

i have one of these from clas ohlson. Ridiculously bright in 12w mode, and lasts for hours with the 4Ah battery (which does cost a lot, but i use the battery in loads of tools)

They also used to do one of these, which uses the same battery and is amazing as an actual torch. You might still be able to pick one up
I have that Diall one that DT linked, it's kind of too bright for a work light tbh, quite glarey but it's very effective.
These little guys are AAA which is a shame, but still really handy, plus they have a built in magnet-on-a-stick which is awesome.
When I bought my Joystick it had a "running pack" that included a headband it could tuck into. It's got plenty of DIY use like that.
Those little battery LED worklights are amazing too for decorating, super bright and last for ages.
I use my exposure joystick, although I'm looking for a hand held (or temporarily in mouth) for my work, and for going in the loft, camping etc.
Have had people scoff at my tiny thing, and offer me an ancient D-cell maglite knockoff; until I show them the beam!
Use it on the lowest setting only indoors though; it heats up noticeably to the point of being uncomfortable on high when theres no airflow.
