Hi all,
I am in need of a new laptop, must be windows and be able to run CAD.
I have an older version of Inventor 2015, which runs well enough on an on older Lenovo I3. The Lenovo has given up the ghost. I'm on a budget so probably looking at refurbished for around £500.
A quick google brings up a myriad of adds for refurbished laptops, just don't know which one to buy from.
Anyone with experience of buying from a refurbisher?
Thanks
Only advice I can offer is give it a clean windows install if that hasn't been already done to remove any manufacturers bloatware and make sure it has an SSD. From experience Dell seem pretty good.
I bought a refurbished Latitude 5289 from Dellrefurbished.co.uk in February.
Fast delivery, exactly as described - a few tiny cosmetic marks so I'd definitely recommend them.
Just had a quick look at the site and there are loads of machines <£500 at the moment so probably worth a look.
I've got a couple of oldish laptops, A Toshiba i3 and an HP with an AMD i5 equivalent (according to the bloke in the shop). Both of them were getting desperately slow and when the fan conked out on the HP I took it to our local shop, rather hoping to be told that it was time to get something a bit better. Ooh, no, said the owner, that's a good machine, a new fan and an SSD for £200 and you'll be amazed or your money back.
I was amazed. So I took the Toshiba in too for an SSD and for £140 I'm amazed with that too.
To run Inventor? If your current laptop is OK then most of what you can find for £500 will be fine, but as above, SSD is very much a good idea.
Define "given up the ghost".
