If I have 2 or 3 beers I get a dull pain in my neck. Its on the right side at the back. Why would this happen?
Its happened for at least a year now.It is quite painful and lasts for hours
My C1/C2 vertebrae got twisted over 15 years ago tryin a trick in a foampit, and needs realignment from a chiropractor most of the time, but otherwise hasnt hurt much unless I do lots of jumps, with a heavy helmet, but I havent been able to ride for a year or 2 due to a crash/surgery.
I havent found a way to adjust c1/c2 myself, and dont know of a good local chiro to do it

Is it your wife?

If so, another 2 or 3 pints should cure it.

Is it only when you drink beer? Have you tried replicating it with 2 or 3 glasses of water, or squash, or a few glasses of wine or cider?

Have you tried using someone who knows what they’re doing to treat your neck?

What Drac said. Go and see an actual doctor.

Only when I drink beer.Or maybe wine
Yes I have seen the doc, and been to a couple of physio/chiros that adjusted it in a couple of minutes, the pain stopped there. But next time I fell off it started again, and either the physios or myself had left town

Sounds most likely it is the neck injury, alcohol is a relaxant so perhaps you unconsciously hold you head/neck position in a way that protects the injury and once you've had a few beers then your muscles change position. It may be as simple as the position you sit in when you relax on an evening, which happens to be when you have your 2-3 beers, versus other times of the day.

Probably completely unrelated, but do you ever get jaw pain or grind your teeth? It's more triggered by astringent drinks (red wine in particular) but temporomadibular joint dysfunction (TJD) can have muscle spasms that can affect your jaw or in to your neck and elsewhere.

was going to be my guess. also, when you've had a couple of drinks, are you also doing other things, like putting your feet up, slouching in the sofa more, anything else that means you're being a bit less careful with your posture?

I tend to be slouching in a chair after a beer or two. I cant really drink much more cos it hurts
As for doctors, I havent got very far with them, currently waiting for surgery to fix the previous surgery, and its taken a long time already. As far as the neck goes, i had an xray, maybe a scan long ago, iirc i got given some exercises but I know it really needs adjustment. Such a simple process

"it is quite painful and lasts for hours"

A quick Google brings up two scenarios, beer=dehydration=pain in the discs between your vertebrae. The other...see your doc.

Try drinking the same non-alcoholic drinks - could easily be you straining muscles by sipping often. See a doc, get x-rays. I'd rather a physio looked at my spine than a chiro (I have broken my spine badly).
