Just been cutting the grass and cut straight through my Shimano spd's. Firstly I was pissed as they cost me £65 big ones but then I started to realise what a lucky fool I am. Slit through the sock too but toes completely untouched .... when is the next lottery draw?

Pick yourself up some cheap safety wellies or shoes. You can get wellies for less than £15.
I need to show this to my wife (the Health & Safety professional who mows the lawn in flip flops)
I've got some wellies, just lazy and thinking nothing can happen here - it's just a 1000 rpm sharp spinning metal blade after all 😯
Get a flymo with the plastic blades. Not quite as effective at cutting grass, but much much less effective at cutting shoes, toes and cables.

I prefer to use flats with my mower, so i can bail easier if it looks like I'm going to crash.

The cleats always bung up with grass too - a product redesign i think
