I'm curious as to why Jimjam thinks no one's capable of fighting.

It's a joke, in reference to the op's comments that had his son not been in the car, he would have been out of the car reacting very differently. IE if things were different there would have been fisticuffs, ie give me one good reason.....

But the truth is most people can't fight,or rather they're just terrible at it, but that doesn't stop people thinking they can "handle themselves" in the same way many believe they are an excellent drivers.

The fact that the OP was still seething about it 24hrs later shows that he's probably not used to conflict, never mind fighting three strangers by the roadside.

Do you think you are good at fighting/can handle yourself?

Following the OP's admission of 50/50 guilt I think he can be Exxonerated...

I would have thought getting into a fight with 3 blokes was fuelish.

I sometimes forget myself and imagine that yes I am/yes I can, until someone strangles me to near unconsciousness. That usually happens many times a week though so I'm kept well in check.

Inssert auto erotic asphyxiation puns below 🙂

Any thoughts of getting to the pool on time evaporated.

This little contretemps took so long to resolve that the pool had evaporated??!! 😯

There is one on Boroughbridge Road but that isn't the main road *through* Knaresborough.

So are you saying the A6055 doesn't go through Knaresborough then? Past the Texaco garage I was on about. Opposite the chip shop, next to the turn that takes you over the railway bridge, & opposite the turn that takes you down to The Tasty House chinese takeaway?
Or are you telling me you live/have lived in Knaresborough in a roundabout kind of way? 🙂

I'm back! Just been to book a holiday to Burmah. 😆

Well in the original post EGF said

I was taking Mrs Egf to an hospital appointment a couple of weeks ago, on time & driving through Knaresborough with a line of cars behind me, when the dippy tart in front stopped, on the main road to let a car out of a petrol station.

So he could have been going down Boroughbridge Road and be near the Texaco petrol station but either way he was approaching the station he is very close to either a give way or the traffic lights at Bond End so I really don't see the problem with the person in front of him letting a car out from the station – she would hardly be holding traffic up as it is a slow moving piece of road. Or he was at Manse Lane petrol station and taking an unusual route to the hospital.

I dunno EGF - was it actually the Tesco Express in Starbeck? Feed my pedantry 😉

Edit - so it was Boroughbridge Road the - she was hardly holding you up if you were coming from the direction of Boroughbridge - the road naturally slows as you go round the bend just before the Bond End traffic lights (and the famous TdF 'Spotty House'). I am sure that in another 100 metres or so you would have been at a halt anyway when you got to the lights.

Not sure what is so bad about a little bee of the horn when someone stops in the middle of the road

Whatever transgression it it it is far less than what then happened

If i ever just block the road to a vehicle obviously behind me and they beep whilst I fanny around I will understand why.

Also agree with jimjam over fighting you cannot tell by looking who can fight* - the best fighter i know looks like a weedy librarian.

* martial arts not street fighting.

Gotcha. The joke was lost on me but that's nothing new.

You're right in the last paragraph, though. My view is if it isn't directly life threatening then it's not worth stepping in. I can easily absorb the odd physical shove from an ignorant nob these days and just walk away without even getting that adrenal rush.

Happy days!

🙂

I guess he wanted them to buzz off.

Road rage can be caused by absolute idiots not driving to the conditions.....I get stuck behind a car doing 40 most days holding up 6 or so cars that are all trying to get to work, needless to say they usually all get passed safely..... but it’s people like that that are too selfish to care about anyone else

That’s probably me.
I get up early enough to not have to rush to work.

Road rage is caused by people who oversleep and don’t leave for work on time.

[edit]. 🙂

Mainly yes, but if a bunch of douches decide to block a road for, presumably a chat, it's not really on. No different to scene Queens blocking gates at trail centers.

Or me. Mainly because most of the roads on the way to my work are 40’s though

Road rage will increase your BP and any altercation could have you arrested and headed forecourt. That experience could turn you into a Total Shell of the person you were.

And the drivers that are just too damn impatient and get unreasonably annoyed at someone slowing to let another car out onto a busy and slow-moving road. 😉

Is that the one on Boroughbridge Road or the A59?
