New season about to start...who's following this season (anyone?)?!

LeBron on the verge of becoming the all time leading scorer...Kawhi, Ben Simmons, Zion back from a season out - how will they do?...how long before KD wants out of Brooklyn again?!

Orlando is my team...can't wait to see this young group continue to grow and to see what Banchero can do. Just please, no more big injuries! 🤞

Me....

GSW here (by virtue of being in san fran on the first play off finals in 2016 and getting to go)

Lebron will do it for sure. I'm amazed KD has stayed at Brooklyn as it is.

Preseason is looking good so far for GSW, hopefully the old boys keep churning it out and the youngsters keep getting better

I watch when I can, don't have a team just enjoy the sport and spectacle.

I saw this yesterday - I know the NBA has had some tall players before but this guy is 7'4 but 95kg mobility and shoots from the 3 point line like a point guard. 2023 draft available....

Cool...so there's at least two of us here!

GSW have a good chance for a repeat. Sounds like Draymond Green has been whipping Jordan Poole in to shape this week 🤜🤕

Biggest hype of pre-season so far seems to be next year's rookie, Wembanyana, rather than this year's crop! He has done well to impress to be fair.

Ah 3 of us!

Yeah, the French Kid has crazy skills.

Tall and skinny can mean fragile though (which as an Orlando fan, I know all too well)...and see Chet Holmgren already out for the season. Will be interesting to see how it pans out for him between now and the '23 Draft.

Nobody could afford KD, will be an interesting season, two teams who would be in with a chance are both suffering horrible off seasons, Celtics have the Udoka scandal to deal with, Suns have the owners issue.

Lots of interesting teams to look out for though, always like seeing Dallas as Doncic is such a talent, Timberwolves will be a good young team as well, Pelicans as well, they have a decent line up and Zion back healthy will be interesting.

The usual suspects will against be interesting, Philly look like they've got a bit more of a team ethos this time round, the Bucks will just be their usual self, quietly winning and being in the 1-3 slot most of the time, Brooklyn will again have a great team, but it's the drama that keeps folk interested! In the west, GSW are just getting stronger, this year will be where a few of the younger ones will break through, unless Draymond punches them again 😂, Clippers have a healthy team so will be up there all year as well, Lakers, god knows how they'll do!

It'll be fun to see all the drama though, so many top players vying for that MVP and a lot of full strength teams to start the season, love watching the games on sky at the weekend (the normal time ones!), never played the game, but the skill and movement make basketball such a great thing to watch, probably the only American sport i can watch.

yep, I know he's clearly tall and skinny but unlike other 7+ footers, particularly at that age, he looks 'proportionate' if you know what I mean. I suspect he'll naturally bulk up a bit as he gets older and develops naturally and on nutrition / weights programs otherwise he'll just get smashed by shorter but bigger opponents (it is a non-contact sport right 😉 ) but looks a hell of a prospect.

Another "fan" - more of a highlights watcher, really, as my son plays competitively and so I've picked up a mild interest/fascination.

Will be following this thread 😊

Long time Lakers fan here but haven't really been watching much the last few seasons, the team just doesn't seem to gel too well recently (had high hopes when LeBron signed up) hopefully they'll get it back together. Good to know there's a few on here that follow so will keep up with this thread, usually just bug a Canadian mate as he's about the only one that knows what I'm on about

I used to live watching it on Channel 4 on Saturday mornings but have no idea where to watch it now? I don’t have Sky.

On the TV...still just Sky unfortunately 🙁

I watched several early-start Magic games live last season via the NBA Access subscription on the NBA app. They did a 3 game pass for about a fiver, which was perfect if there were a few early-starting games over the period of a month, as you could just dip in and watch a few live games cheaply without committing to a whole month subscription, and not have too much of a late night! Unfortunately, they've got rid of that option for this season, so it's now pay for each game individually (for a fiver I think), or go for a monthly or season pass.

Slight derail, but I’ve been enjoying watching the BBL recently too - obviously the quality of player is significantly less but there are still some good games.

A lot of BBL games are free to watch live on YouTube/BBL Player.

EDIT: I’ll be tuning in for Sheffield Sharks vs Caledonia at 7:30 tonight.

Pre-season done.

Orlando goes 4-1. Can we just seed the Playoffs now instead of faffing around for 82 games?? 😆

I go and watch Surrey Scorchers from time to time. Of course quality is streets apart but in the end you go to watch a good game that entertains you and I've seen some belters over the years.

Just in case anyone's missed it, 'The Redeem Team' on Netflix is a great documentary about the USA Olympic team. Also quite sad to see what a great player and team maker Kobe Bryant was back in the day.

Pre-Season is done, and we're no wiser to who the top teams are, a few of them used pre-season to warm up and try different things, give folk a run out in positions, some teams took it more seriously, to be fair we dont' tend to know who are the teams to watch out for until after the all star game.

Talking of documentaries - 'Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals' is ace. I think I might've even shed a tear at the end.

Ah yeah, Larry Bird, best trash talker of all time in the NBA, some great stories and videos of all the 80s legends who had so much rivalry back then. The Magic vs Bird era was great to watch in so many documentaries and so on, the story about how they managed to become friends making that advert says a lot about them.

Been an avid NBA fan since the 1993-94 season, still follow it every day just like I did as a 14 year old when I first got it into it!

Been a long serving Utah fan ever since I first played Techmo NBA 91/92 on my SNES during 1993. This will be my first season that I actively want Utah to tank the season and absolutely stink. Ainge has absolutely loaded the Jazz with a massive haul of 1st Rd picks over the next few seasons and even if we don't bag Weybanyama next Summer there's still some great talent to hopefully get hold of.

With Kris Middleton back from injury I'll go for the Bucks to win the 2022/23 NBA Championship.

As a Boston fan be prepared for Danny to sit on those for a long time. Loves to collect them and I don't really think he was ever able to use them effectively in Boston didn't get KD, didn't get AD, got Kyrie and we all know how that turned out.

Week 1 nearly over…anyone been making the most of the 7 day free League Pass trial to watch some games?

Good (Magic) game against the Celtics last night @joepud. Close all the way!
Utah off to a good start @bennyboy1…not sure tanking is gonna happen at this rate!

Orlando still without a win after 3 games but definitely seeing an improvement with how they play so far this season. Banchero’s been solid on offence and defence too…he’s gonna be good!

Some good stuff so far, Bucks go all pre-season without a win, come into the regular season and they're a different beast, even without Middleton, Luka was putting on a show as well last night, the Mav's look a little more capable as a team as well, Pelicans look strong as well, Zion back with a bang and they have a pretty decent starting line.

It does look like a strong season ahead, so many questions to be answered and i think the MVP race this year could be a good one.

So...I'll repeat what I said in the first post:

How long till KD wants out?!

Going a bit pear shaped in Brooklyn so far 😬

Utah being one of the best in the West - I didnt see that coming, so much for tanking! Really enjoying the team hustle so far, having been written off I think the squad has a back against the wall mentality.

Lakers being completely sh*t is a joy to behold, especially as their draft pick goes to the Pelicans so even if Lakers end up worst team in the league they won't benefit from it.

Nets in a complete mess, don't feel any sympathy whatsoever although I do like Nash so a shame for his coaching career.

Yeah Lakers are a bit screwed.

Steve Nash will be back somewhere else before too long I'm sure...Los Angeles?? 🤪

Oh...and im calling it...Bol Bol - Most Improved Player and Defensive Player of the year at the end of the season. Recognise!

How painful is trying to watch games on the new official NBA app this year?!

Buffers horrendously most of the time and this morning, trying to watch the second half of last night’s Orl vs Phi game, it’s so pixelated, it’s like trying to watch a video online in 1998 😩

I can’t find the condensed games on the Apple TV app. Anyone else having this issue?

I just watch the Sky stuff and then youtube highlights from TNT or ESPN the next day.

Looks an interesting season already, Bucks looking solid even without Middleton and Connaughton, Celtics continuing where they left off, then you have Warriors being on and off and the fun stuff happening at the Nets and of course the Lakers.

Still not sure who will be in charge in the east, or who will be in the top 4 in the west yet!

Last night's game between the Mavs and Knicks was something else, Mavs come back from a deficit not done before in 20 years, Luka gets 60/21/10 to set even more records!

I'm not a fan of Doncic but that was an insane stat line. 🤜

I'm pleased to see Orlando hooking some W's together finally. Had a shaky start but the team has figured out how to close games out now.

I do enjoy watching Doncic, the big players are doing it this season again, the east looks pretty tight in the top 4 positions, Celtics just looking strong, Bucks just easing along, Nets coming into it more and 76ers showing some good stuff, it'll be interesting to see they work out in the second half of the season, the west is looking weaker, but more competitive for places, you could see some weird finalists in that side i think.

PSA! The Bulls v Pistons game in France is live on BBC3 and Iplayer tonight.

Looks like BBC will be showing a few (and I mean few) live games from the rest of this season and the post-season now...including ONE Finals game 😆

36 points needed for LeBron…will it happen tonight, or (I hope, for even greater historical context) the next game, against Milwaukee?

Well, he's done it! Phenomenal achievement.  Always seemed like one of those records that may never be beaten...until a season or so ago.

Reckons he's still got a couple more years in him.  Whatever points total he ends up with, I'm not sure I can see that ever being beaten.

It's been an interesting run to the finals, Miami have gone through the play-in, losing their first play-in game and pretty much beating all that's been put in front of them.

Can't see past Denver though, they have just been at the top all season, they've had a long break as well for the final, so over a week off before the first game of the finals, whilst Miami have been playing tough games and travelling. Would be the first time for Denver winning the championship as well, they've been up there for a few years now and Jokic and Murray are fully fit for this one.

Yeah, all points towards a Denver Championship, but Miami just won't quit! I'm gonna say Nuggets in 6.

So San Antonio won the Wemby sweepstake a few weeks back. Seems kinda appropriate in many ways, with 'Pop' coaching David Robinson, Tim Duncan as well as Tony Parker to greatness.

Am happy with how Orlando finished - only just missed out on the Play-in. Two high picks coming up in the draft so lots of options for draft night movement, plus lots of spare cash to go for a good free agent if the right one is available in the summer. Future's looking good (finally)!

It was a season of weird changes, KD over to the Suns, but up against the Nuggets was just a series too much, Irving went over to the Mavs, but they fell apart after him turning up, can't see Luka staying much longer, not keeping the guy he wanted and then overbidding for someone he wasn't too partial too i'd guess.

Lots of head coaches getting sacked and i guess a few moves in the summer, can see some big moves ahead, Giannis must be getting itchy feet, same with a few players, Lakers will be trying to build again to give Lebron a final push in possibly his last season.

Can’t see the Heat winning, not enough rim protection against Jokic.

But, playoff-Jimmy Butler goes into MJ mode…
