On Monday night, I bounded up my stairs at home as I often do, only to form a pounding headache. Every time my heart beat it felt like my head was pulsing and going to explode. I took some ibuprofen and had an early night.

Tuesday, I went to work with a bit of headache dullness, so took some ibuprofen and forgot about it. I was fine during the day.

Jumped on the bike on Tuesday night - managed about 220yds before the pounding headache came back.

NHS direct sent me straight to A+E.

At A+E I had an MRI which showed no bleeding on the brain, but they also said I'd need a lumbar puncture to rule out anything more sinister.

I had the lumbar puncture on Wednesday - again clear though they're doing more tests on the fluid to see if there's anything going on. Other than that, it seems like a dose of MTFU and OTC pills.

My head is still not great. I woke up this morning with a headache, and last night just wandering down the road to the shops started the early signs of the pounding again.

Anyone had any similar experiences - what's going on? It's the not knowing that I hate.

Pook I get the same thing and it's really worries me.

Like a pounding headache and it feels like pressure is building in my head. I had the tests and came back clear too.

I was at the football the other day we scored I jumped around and the pounding/pressure came again.

Back to the doctor me thinks.

Drac - all normal. The nurses kept saying "fine, all good". Sorry i can't be more detailed.

Parkes - does it start at the back of your skull?

It usually starts at the front but the pressure builds and my whole head feels like it could explode. The doctor could only come up with chronic tension headaches but didn't give me any prescriptions.

I have a new GP in York now so I'm going to see him next week.

Ah no worries. My guess is Blood Pressure, pop back your Dr and ask for it to be taken and does he think it's worth having a 24hour monitor.

I some times get it during a sudden burst of energy from rest. i.e. running upstairs most people probably have but if it's happening regular then probably worth looking at.

As usual, it begins with a C,

and ends in an At AIDS.

You have my sympathies, as long as I can have your stuff.

(serious voice) hope you get it sorted!
