Started watching this weekend, bloody brilliant.
Kind of knew a lot of the story but without the detail.
"making 60 million dollars a day, thats more than General Motors"
utterly mind boggling 😯
It's really well done, one of the best shows on at the moment. Bit biased though as I find books/films about that era/subject fascinating e.g. Blow, Mr Nice, etc. Like you say, mind boggling, the way it went from nothing to a huge international business so quickly.
Its brilliant! If you're interested in the whole history of the cocaine explosion, check out the totally fascinating documentary Cocaine Cowboys about the fairly innocent naive guys in Miami who started importing it. How they ended up buying fleets of Mercs, and even private planes with suitcases full of cash. How the Miami banks were taking more in cash deposits than the banking system in the entire rest of the US.
Mind boggling indeed
Although from what I understand they are painting Escobar in a much more appealing light than the reality..
He was a very grim character with some very unsavoury tastes according to some accounts..
Very compelling viewing though

If what I've seen is appealing then I'd hate to meet anyone you considered as abhorrent yunki.
I've just got to the end and can't believe I've now got to wait till next year for another series. All the other box sets I've watched have been finished before I started them. Got to try and find something of the same quality as a stop gap.
I think you can see him descending into being the monster he becomes.

That definitely looks like it's worth a watch.
I just finished Narcos last week, really impressed with it. Looking forward to the next series.

Aside for the sociopathic murdering, baby killing, plane exploding, drug lord thing, he comes across as a decent bloke.
Currently watching Gotham.
Narcos was brilliant. It paints him as a devoted family man which by all accounts he was...If you are interested in him then 'sins of my father' (or something similar) is also well worth a watch.
Basically its about his Son who gives an interesting take on things.
It's a very good series indeed - it's slowly getting the audience it deserves.
The only slight trouble on the horizon is that I've read 'Killing Pablo' so know the story, the next series is either going to be short, or slowly paced - we'd be 4/5th the way through the book by now.
Not that it's all about Escobar though.
Forgot about that! A great read, by the bloke what wrote Black Hawk Down. Must read some more of his books. The only slight trouble on the horizon is that I've read 'Killing Pablo'
It's great, innit? Curious to see where they go from here, as (as P-Jay pointed out) there ain't much more of the story to tell. I've read that they may expand it out to bring in the Cali cartel more, hopefully it holds up once you remove Escobar as a central figure. Also read that the blond US DEA guy isn't returning - fine by me, Pena is more interesting anyway. Which shows, given that I can't remember the blond guys name or be bothered to look it up.
Thanks, I'd managed to forget what actually happened to him 🙂
Pablo's hippos is worth watching as well
