You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
For me this has to be up there
Although I have never heard that version until 5 minutes ago, some others I'm to embarrassed to talk about, but I must say the above really hits a cord.
Whats yours?
Edit, one of the embarrassing ones is
😳
that is a fantastic version if it is the one off the scottish tv programme.
and i was gonna post dignity too.
"Do you wanna touch me" by Gary Glitter.
Came at a very transitional time in my life and has stuck with me forever as fresh as it ever was.
When you here a song and think, wtf was that, start of a long spiral of music, gigs and drink. Happy days 😀
Super trouper by ABBA.
Atomic by Blondie.
😆
Working on the chain gang - Sam Cooke
makes me think of my kids long story
made me tart to play classical guitar and yes i can
Whenever I listen to this I'm 13 again, sitting in my bedroom in the basement of my parents' house 😀
So basically an depressive introverted malcontent......
Big part of my teenage years. Still love NMTB.
Great band, great track, great TV programme.
It would be a list from way over there to here, and I am not quite sure the STW server could handle it 🙂
I do like a bit of Zappa, cheers.
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters makes me feel better when I feel like I;m surrounded by nasty idiots...
nothing specific (most 80's goth and punk) but two that stand out are:
and this one
Stuart Morrow^
Like Tazzy I was very much into The SDC right from the start, being in their local Leeds/Bradford Punk scene, up until about The Cult Love Album, Dead Kennedys, Crass and The Cramps featured heavily.
Nirvana's "Lounge Act"
Saw this live on TV, 14 years old, had never listened to metal before. Never really listened to music before tbh! This changed all that, not overnight but it was the start. Thanks Metallica! I owe you me.
I always found most Metal, right from early LedZep thru to Metallica and lots inbetween, all very cheezy and pretentious. Big hair-doos, strutting/prancing around on stage etc etc. Cringe worthy. Motorhead and a handful of others being the exception.
me and johnny scholes in Devilles in Manchester, best of times and still a massive part of me still
This went through my head and carried me through some very arduous physical tests.
I still hear it when things get a little tough, but nothing will be as hard as that was.
Not sure about 'made me the person I am' but this one certainly reflects exactly who I am and how I feel a lot of the time as a wife and mother. Bit of a dirge but it's one of the most played songs on my iPod and I'm sure the lyrics will strike a chord with many.
Give unto me your troubles
I'll endure all your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Julee Cruise Falling
Souls of Mischief 93 til infinity
Massive Attack Unfinished Sympathy
Wheat Bodytalk part 2
Gillian Welch I dream a highway
This shaped my entire young life:

Can't really argue with that... But I don't choose music based on how it looks, otherwise I would just listen to Girls Aloud.
Realisation
Hedonism
Satisfaction
Probably the Grease soundtrack. All the cool kids at school loved it. I hated it and wanted no part. That's when I fully embraced punk rock and took an outsiders approach to life. I've not fully fitted in since.
Every time I leave my house in suburbia and drive my mondeo to the garden centre with my wife i take time to sing a crass song to myself. Just to let myself know i'm still out there just a little bit.
I'd like to say this:
More likely to be this, though:
Probably five songs
Eat static : gulf breeze
Senser : no comply
Stone Roses : this is the one
Spiritualized : think I'm in love
New Order : temptation
This mainly:
I would have to blame Jean Michel Jarre for my exceptional music taste, the first tape I bought was Zoolook when I was 8. Far too much to pick out all the rest on the way but have been through metal, grunge, free parties, indie, hip hop, rave, jungle, DnB, techno, deep house phases but will listen to anything if it's good, although I'd probably say chillwave is where I'm at now.
This evening I am mostly digging......
Aged 5, raided my parents record collection and learned the words, sang it incessantly for about 6 months:
Aged 19, running beach raves and someone handed me the green album, thank you:
Plus many many more.....
Cross the breeze by Sonic Youth
Rubicon by Tangerine Dream
Angel of death by Slayer
Springsteens Darkness on the Edge of Town means as much to me today as it did 30+ years ago.
Hopefully the sound's ok on these, this laptop has none!
Better stop there or I'll go on all night 🙂
