Whats wrong with a name thats already shortened to a nickname? Its narrows things too much IMO- its too informal, how could a serious organisation take him seriously?
I think Mark is a top name. Although it seems alot of people were called Mark around the time I was born as well!

If you have a name like Ben everyone assumes it's short for something. So teachers always end up calling you Benjamin or Benedict or something, when it's not your name.
Incidentally, my name actually is Benjamin, and I like the fact I have a short and long form 🙂
As for Mark - I don't like names that are verbs 🙂
