she was gonna call it 'cherry on the cake' but is now having second thoughts and thinking about 'cakes by kym' or somethings to make it sound more personal.

i know theres some pretty active minds on here, so i told her id ask you lot and see if you can come up with owt better 🙂

Gateaux Neuf de Pape

How about something geographical ie where she is? There must be somewhere nice sounding around where she lives or something. I guess she's after local business more than anything, so that might be a start and make people remember a local business rather than a person's name.

think shes already been in touch with the other cherry on the cake and shes been given the go-ahead to use it

I presume she's going to have some sort of online presence, even if just a single page with contact details, so I think sharing a name with an identical business isn't a recipe for success regardless of whether she's been given the go-ahead or not.

I don't know about others, but if I could remember a distinctive name and wanted more details I'd google it, but I'd end up with someone elses page top of the list.

some great suggestions here, very clever 🙂 We like loads of them.

Her signature cake has got cherries on the top, hence her original name and shes asked if anyone could think of building that into the name anywhere possibly?

thanks 🙂

well.....after much consideration she's chosen a name. my favourite I think was either cake district of it'll end in tiers. she didn't want that tho as she said it had undertones of being disappointed :-/
but she took that and changed it to tiers of happiness which I thought was excellent.

BUT THEN she went and changed it for no good reason to A Piece of Cake!!!!!

ah well. at least she's happy with it. thanks to everyone for all your input and ideas 🙂

cheers

The problem with light hearted names is they give the impression of over sugared under flavoured cakes, run by some half witted wife as a hobby business to spend her husbands money.

Something like "death by cake" on the other hand hints that the cake will be full of flavour a real evil pleasure that's worth shortening your life for.

I guess that comes down to the products and the USP for the business - if they WANT to be light and sugary...

Is she going to have a shop or start from home? If she's having a shop for goodness sake get her to have a big opening inviting loads of locals to try some samples. We have a cake shop down the road which appeared under the radar a couple of months ago, it's a reasonable sized premesis with a few cake stands and some very bored looking people sitting in it, never see any punters in there, no one really noticed it arrive and I think everyone feels a bit embarassed going in.
