12 days ago I ordered a new set of van tyres from Mytyres to be sent to their recommended fitter who in turn was to come to my house to fit the tyres yesterday afternoon. All well & good and visa debit card charged last week.

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon and no fitter shows up.  45mins after they were due, I call the fitter.  "Sorry mate, not on our records, I'll call you back in 5". On cue they phone up, confirm they have the tyres but refuse to come out to my house as ordered as I'm not in their patch.

I offer to come to them to get them fitted but get an evasive "Nah, sorry mate we are mobile fitters that wont really work". I call mytyres up but just get an unhelpful person on the phone who give off soundbites around "need to check with the fitter why they are refusing work and they will get back to me in 48 hours". I have given them 24 hours to get a resolution in place but got the distinct impression that I will be in for a fight.

So what would STW do? I have bought a product from mytyres to be fitted by their recommended subcontractor. The subcontractor has my goods (at I suppose my request) but is now refusing to carry out the work...

Can you get a chargeback on visa debit cards if over a certain value?  If so, do that.

Arrange to meet them in a supermarket car park that is on their patch?

That way they're still mobile and you get tyres.

Had something similar using mytyres too, booked them to be fitted with ATS Euromaster, when I got there, "nope not seeing a booking"

I showed him the confirmation on my phone so he started clicking around on the computer and finally found it, probably in the spam folder or something.

Well, one step closer to resolution after an hour and 8! phone calls this afternoon including having the fitter shouting at me down the phone. Now hopefully getting the tyres uplifted and delivered to my home address next week...

What a crock o'shit!

wwstd?

Use a local garage. I use SMS at Back O'the Hill in Stirling. Usually cheaper than online too.

Sorry, that sounds smug. It's not meant to be, is a genuine 'use local and trusted' suggestion.

I think next time I will Matt. Last time I used black circles and it was painless - this has just been a slow, frustrating process. (p.s the 5 is still going grand!)

I ordered coil springs from their sister site. Two weeks later they were refunded as the UK warehouse never had any. PITA but they were good enough at getting it sorted.

As for fitters shouting at you down the phone, sod that...

I would imagine the fitter will be making a loss on what he’s ‘signed up’ to do so trying to worm his way out of it
