My eldest wrote me a poem in my birthday card this morning. A Haiku no less:

You are really old
And you do not have much hair
Forty one. Blimey

Pretty much summed it up I think.

That's the work of a genius, but without pictures, how are we to judge the accuracy of the poem?

My kids praise me for being a role model and select cards that reflect the skills I've given them. My last cards featured empty bottles and gutters.

Yep, she's a good'un. She made me laugh, but for some reason 41 feels a bit more miserable than 40, which didn't bother me at all.

My birthday was a quiet affair a few weeks ago, but the kids wanted to make me a cake. We just made a normal cake without candles or anything, but my 5 year old still went and turned the light off and sang for me anyway 🙂 Love her 🙂

I hit 43 last week and that suddenly feels old.

I got similar comments and thoughtful cards from my girls too.

Old maybe, but can still whoop them on a bike - just 😉

That's brilliant 😉

My 4-year-old daughter wrote a very useful note to remind me of the important issues when I was doing a BBC interview a few days ago:
