Hi All,
I haven't posted in a while but I'm a regular visitor (voyuer?). Anyhow, I wanted to raise awareness of a charity close to my heart I hope you never need but will be so thankful of if you do.
The Sick Children's Trust believes the families of every sick child should be able to stay together during treatment. My son Jasper was born in October last year unable to swallow. His oesophagus didn't form correctly so it was blocked at the top and the bottom half connected into the lungs. He had an operation at Addenbrooks on day 2 for that, another operation on day 10 as his colon was popping out of the umbilical and at three weeks developed a severe breathing difficulties due to a floppy windpipe and had to be operated at Great Ormond Street. All throughout this period we stayed minutes from Jasper's room so were able to care for him, be there quickly in emergencies and it allowed his sisters to stay over and get to know him. Without that family life would have been impossible and we would have faced the worry of trying to find accommodation whilst our little one was facing all these complications. The Sick Children's Trust and their home from home accommodation was invaluable!
My brothers are doing some crazy running (I was born to different pursuits!) and if you would like to see our just giving page it's here: linky
Apologies if I violate any forum rules!
Thanks for your time,
Sidney
Sounds awful for you and Jasper. Pleased to hear he's doing well. Small donation made.
It's got to be worth a little bump...
Donated, glad your little boy is doing better.
Thank you guys and gals, every little helps!
I’be been amazed over the years how I’ve been drawn to support stranger’s cause on here and even more amazed my little story has touched some of you.
From the bottom of my heart thank you!
The Sick Children’s Trust are ace. Being able to stay at Eckersly House on the grounds of LGI when our 3 month old was having open heart surgery can never be underestimated. We have and will continue to raise money for such a worthy cause knowing full well we’ll need them again in the future.
Keep up the good work chestrockwell - all the best for your child!
LGI Childrens Heart Unit here as well. Absolutely echo what Chestrockwell says - this support is amazing and does so much to make a terrible situation more bearable. Donated with pleasure...
Great cause. My two nephews were both born nearly 3 months premature and were in intensive care for many months. Thanks to the charity, my brother and sister in law were able to stay close by.
Thanks Sid, you too mate.
Mrwhyte, it’s an unbelievable relief not to have to worry about accommodation at that time. Hope your nephews are doing well.
