Only partly, but it still has a reasonable contribution to make, alongside vaccination and <laughs> test and trace. The failures of the government are obvious, but don’t offer carte blanche for the rest of us to shrug and do what the hell we want. I don’t really give a monkeys about outdoor gatherings, but indoor parties are royally taking the piss.
Really glad someone has articulated my view more eloquently than I have managed to do so far.
This is a hard one as we are in the same position as the OP. Except our adjoined neighbour's have friends and relatives round (inside) everyday. They have them all round now as I type this.
The reason this bothers me is not only that they are breaking the law, they run and own a care home and I have a close wonderful friend working in the nhs, whose life has been a complete misery over the last 11 months. Last year she came round saying she wanted to end it all.
OP - if you can get some other neighbours to support you then report them, but if like us these other neighbours along with the party family will make your home life a complete misery then maybe not.
Your neighbour sounds like an idiot, an arsehole or both. Wait until they’re making a racket before doing anything.
My wife returned to work in a hospital after mat leave 2 weeks before lockdown 1 and has been working throughout this whole thing. My patience for such utter **** wittery is wafer thin.

seems many will just do the British thing, tut loudly and ignore it.
I'll vote for report it if the noise makes it obvious it's a party, mainly because I found myself in the same situation and reported it. Got an invite that I turned down, as did a few other people in the other flats so it wasn't obvious it was me who 'grassed'. The police were here in just over 10 minutes and everyone there got a fine. This was back in Lockdown 1 when everyone was incredibly well-behaved though so different circumstances to now where it's all much more lax. The neighbour who threw the party actually put a notice up in the shared hallway apologising!
Grass them up. I've done it my neighbours twice because they don't learn (broke the rules more than twice).
It appears they have bottled it. They left their house at 5pm last night and haven't returned.
Maybe my mentioning the words POLICE and LOCKDOWN made them have second thoughts. I hope so.
Although I'm more inclined to believe that they've relocated the party to a friend's house, out of my way.
I'll let you know.
I find this stuff fascinating. Y’know, when we look back at where it all went to shit for some countries, say, like the former East Germany, and we ask, with incredulity, “jeepers, what happened to make the general public start reporting one another wholesale for infringements?”
would it be easier if covid had the lethality of ebola ? you know, report and the state shoots them or not and let ebola get them and everyone else in the street. Or with covid just shrug yer shoulders cos you know yer a fit and healthy reasonably young mountain biker risk taker and only older fat people die from it after all. Eastern Bloc Europe and a Public health emergency are not an equivalency.
This thread is honestly quite depressing. I'm a crit care nurse working in covid units since the start of this mess. I'd report them, my tolerance for idiots is non existent any more.
I think the damage was done elsewhere as they've just returned with flowers, gift bags and leftover food.
They probably relocated to a friend's house in a less salubrious area where every **** is flouting the lockdown and where they all hate the rozzers.

Surprising the people who can't see the difference
I guess they are if the stasi come round and shoot you for not reporting your neighbours for listening to bbc world service. (did the stasi practice streetwise decimation ?)

Nice over generalisation with a side of snobbery.
Covidiots come from all sides of the social and intelligence spectrum.

Oh what a shame, I was looking forward to a story of several overnight arrests followed by Derek starship posting on here with one finger for help while being hog tied in the back of a Luton van designed for Eastern Europe.
I'd be avoiding them like the er, plague.
in a similar incident, I was upstairs watching The Honour (V good btw) when the MIL visited. Hearing her an my wife gassing in the kitchen I've now been accused of "creating a fuss" when I moaned about "indoors" "open the back door" and the fact that " your a social worker, travel the tube and visit other peoples houses". Apparently its OK because she's been vaccinated and has a LF test twice a week. Of course, now I'm still upstairs, wondering of I get any dinner tonight.

My own fallible human brain almost made the opposite generalisation when I read this thread. But I resisted.
This thread is honestly quite depressing. I’m a crit care nurse working in covid units since the start of this mess. I’d report them, my tolerance for idiots is non existent any more.
After all the pans we banged for you, and we can't even have some mates round? What's the world coming too? 🙂
Seriously though, cheers for everything. We should find the frontline NHSers in our midst and shout them some beer money when all this is done with.
I’m still upstairs, wondering of I get any dinner tonight
pudding is looking doubtful I'd say
I’m sorry but blaming the way the rules are laid out, as a way of people not following them is total b@llocks. I’ve known from day one what I can and can’t do. It’s not the councils, governments fault, it’s just selfish ***ts doing what they want end of. You just have to spend 10 mins in a supermarket to understand that a lot of people are just cretins. “I don’t understand the rules” then ask someone of normal intelligence to spell it out.
Or with covid just shrug yer shoulders cos you know yer a fit and healthy reasonably young mountain biker risk taker and only older fat people die from it after all.
I know the post was tongue in cheek, but for anyone that does think it only affects the old, unfit or those with preexisting conditions you’re possibly in for a shock. I’m 43, decent diet, gym, weights, boxing and a keen cyclist. Caught Covid last March and was pretty close to dragging myself to A&E due to not being able to breath very well.
Then several months of hideous fatigue and breathing problems followed. Sold my bike in August after attempting a local ride that left me sat in some grass crying with frustration. Slowly started to recover and used some cash from the MTB sale to purchase a gravel bike. Intention being to ride on the flat in order to slowly build fitness. Found even this quite hard.
Feeling almost (about 90%) back to normal by Jan. Caught Covid again in early Feb. Having a shower leaves me knackered and after work and weekends I’m basically sleeping. Kids don’t have a dad to play with because he’s always too tired and I’m worried about my job as concentrating is very difficult. I’m extremely frustrated, putting on weight and depressed. Yet I still consider myself very lucky.
Sorry for the rant, but don’t assume that because you’re reasonably young and healthy you’ll be okay.
that Scottish witch has been playing a game all along.
Yeah classy @funkydunk. Also total rubbish.

Don't have parties.
Wear a mask.
The guidelines are vague as shit and constantly shifting so I'd concede to someone who got pulled up for having five people round when they're only allowed four. But throwing a party is wilful defiance however you slice it. "Stop slavering on people" isn't a difficult concept.
“Stop slavering on people” isn’t a difficult concept.
That's just so unfair on the actual slavering ****wits, though.
They DESERVE to be considered too, you know. Bloody metropolitan elite at it again....
Has anyone heard from Derek Starship this morning?
Still hung over from the party, I expect.

*It seems that many people who want to use that stupid argument, do so on the death figures and not as you say on the long term health concerns. But you cannot argue with stupid. They will never reply to those counters, and just bleat out the same crap.
