Short cross penny, silver obvs, I'm guessing it'll be around 800 years old. Worn but still nice.

Now, totally unconfirmed but this looks like a bronze spear head to me but I'm no expert. We shall see, could be 3000 years old, possibly... or it's a bit of "who knows what" from the Victorian era.

He's there camping, I'll post up other stuff he finds for those interested.

Are you sure that spearhead hasn't just fallen off the top of a fence?

Any ring pulls? Specifically from a can of Quattro, circa 1982...

Interesting finds, nice work :o)

I did a bit of Metal Detecting with my Father in Law - he was a keen detectorist.

Our most interesting find, found in the Lickey Hills near Birmingham, was an intect 303 bullet. We found it in an area of the hills were they used to test fire remanufactured gun barrels during World War 1.

I was completely unaware of the history of the area until we did a bit of research after the fact.

There’s lots that could turn up around my neck of the woods, there was Roman occupation, King Alfred the Great had his hunting lodge at the top of the town, there’s Anglo-Saxon, Neolithic (there’s a long-barrow a couple of miles west), The Viking army was around here, Alfred fought them at Eddington, about ten miles south, then there was a lot of Civil War stuff locally as well, Roundway Down just outside of Devizes saw a major battle.
