The reassuring sounds of Soul Limbo will be ringing out at 1020 as coverage begins at Headingley.
Captain Cook to pass 10k today, perhaps?
And there is...no run
Captain Cook to pass 10k today, perhaps?
And be the youngest ever to do so if he does!!
Now I've got the tough choice between listening to the cricket or watching the Giro. Life is hard.
Ah, I wondered why the weather had turned a bit rubbish. Must be the first home test of the summer.
I am quite envious, I think I would have liked cricket, but Fruechie in the village championship apart in the 80's (and they are about to fold)the climate makes it a pointless activity up here.
Can't wait, the sound track to the summer starts here. Would love the question marks over Hales to be removed by him scoring runs. Vince to do well too, then we have a side to take to Aus next winter.
Liked the interview with Broad on R4 earlier.
'So you're the #1 bowler in the world today, does that mean you'll get choice of ends?
'No. In all the tests I've played with Jimmy, I never get choice of ends. I'll be running up the hill again, like usual....
I know in all changing rooms there are different characters, but are there many others that are so well loved and yet so universally noted as being grumpy as Jimmy Anderson?
It's over cast up here in Leeds this morning, so if Jimmy gets the ball swinging he can be as grumpy as he likes!!

+1
Jimmy's a "Northerner" isn't he? 😉

(Bloody hell duckie, are you from Freuchie? Better keep my head down as I come past later)

I am not sure Trotty loves him.

I read an article that claimed more cricket was played in Aberdeenshire than any other part of the UK - whilst I find this difficult to believe - you couldn't make the claim unless there was plenty of cricket.
I've played cricket in Fife and mini THM is doing so now (not literally as in an exam right now). Rather play golf though 😉
[Opps FrUEchie....safe to use the A91 then!!!]
Anyway back to TMS, sorry for wide extras there 😉
Toss lost....
Sorry for stupid question, but what is the point of a Wendy kick-about a few minutes before [s]Kick off[/s] the start? And when we're grounds full of crap/people in the middle before a match?
Yours a cricket fuddy-duddy
Cook, Hales, Compton, Root, Vince, Stokes, Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Broad, Finn, Anderson
There's some big hitters in there (not the argue about helmets and religion kind).
Not sure there's enough to noodle around a moving ball at headingley though. Could be an interesting start to this game
I miss CMJ
And i miss Tony Cozier, even though we haven't really had chance to miss him yet.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/may/12/tony-cozier-obituary
This is my first summer without sky sports in 8 years and I hate the C5 highlights coverage so TMS will be my cricketing solace.
Apart from when Boycotts on. He's still an arse
And i miss Tony Cozier, even though we haven't really had chance to miss him yet.
No doubt I will too, still miss Donna Symmonds, who I think is still alive, but doesn't seem to be on the panel anymore.

I love Boycers precisely because he is an arse - he talks such a wonderful kind of B0llox..
The iOS iplayer radio app was updated yesterday, and now it's dropping out on TMS. 🙁
The web feed is working fine 🙂
When people ask me what I miss most about England , it's not Stella Artois or Pork Pies , or Wasps or indeed Branston Pickle , it's Cricket . God I miss getting nicely toasted at lords/ oval / headingly and goading former colonies.
Maybe the gap caused by Tony Cozier could be filled* by Donna?
* yeah, like that gap could ever be 'filled'.

Working fine on Android here - thought you'd like to know 8) 😈
Boycs!!! Says they couldn't bowl his gran out, cue a perfect ball
Boycott's granny!
Ok. Not great conditions for batting and his is a test match, but this is not exactly riveting so far is it?
Still an unbroken partnership to lunch would be nice.
Oh beefy - "start using a tennis ball shall we?....you've gotta wear a helmet...they're professionals aren't they?"
Bugger...
Even more bugger.
Buggery bugger
Hells bells
Looking good
That's why test is Da Best yo
Bairstow is in a rich seam of form.
THM, 2 eyes but only 10 fingers, not a Fifer.
Argh!
Argh +1 (-1 ?)
Bairstow's sphincter must be twitching now!
97no.....
Aaargh! And more aaargh!
is "LOL" inappropriate ? 😳
Yay !
all out within 10 balls from now ?
Bairstow needs more than a single here or he might get stranded on 99 😯
Edit:Yay! And also Woo!
W00t
TMS really has produced some of the most moving pieces of radio over the last year or two, absolutely wonderful tribute to Tony Cozier.
Ive missed the match so far as I'm in Atlanta. Is 300 a good score?
Was there last week, Dan! (Delta. Sorry. )
I think it's just about enough. There's more fire in the English attack, though.
They reckon decentish, the Sri Lankan's batting is inexperienced and Broad, Anderson and Finn should be able to get alot out of the surface, but should have been more.
Mefty my thoughts exactly
Very good recovery from a sticky position but still a lowish score against a weakish team.
from 233/8, yesIs 300 a good score?
Finn did it properly
And...we're off 🙂
definitely off now
I take it back that score is match winning and they wont need to bat again 😀
12-2!
12/3 🙂
[s]I meant 12-3.[/s]
Beaten to it!
Well, it is the home of Delta CFH. So much so that everything at the airport with a "D" is referred to as DIXIE, because "Delta is an airline"
I've managed 2 rides here in my 48hrs off too, even avoided the rain.
It looks like a wicket you need a bit of luck to start, then once in is a bit easier.
I'm off to Day 2 at Lords next month, which should be fun.
I'm off to Day 2 at Lords next month, which should be fun.
Me too, hopefully Day 1 too.
quite relaxing listening to TMS on todays ride, must take extra batteries next time portable dab only lasts about two and a half hours on a couple of aaa 🙁
lovely tribute to Tony today.
For reasons I won't go in to here (may be a thread for future) TMS is being my absolute solace at the moment 😥

Me too, for Day 2.
Maybe Flashy will let us into his box?

Oooooooooh err, Missus.
Think I'm in the Mount stand this year, with the missus. Where are you chaps?
Oh, and 300 looking very handy at the moment!!!
Roving
Anderson on 4fer15. Could be some superb numbers by the end.
What's the weather forecast looking like in Leeds tomoz ? Could be all over on Saturday.
Anderson on 4fer15. Could be some superb numbers by the end.
Anderson, by the way, has 3-0 in three overs.....
Andrew Samson
BBC Test Match Special statistician
"This is the first time that James Anderson has taken four wickets in an innings at Headingley."
BBC text feed
Ooooooo!
dammit! Broad stealing anderson's no. 5! 🙂
Enforce follow on OBVS
Surprisingly, Andersons Headingly record is poor.
Booo....
dammit! Broad stealing anderson's no. 5!
James Anderson has 5-16.
Dont fret
Well who'd have thunk that from 83-5 they'd be enforcing the follow on? Some stats trawling calls...
TMS on long wave, summer is here
Digital you luddite and you get to avoid the SHipping forecast 😉
That said you are not wrong
With you Flashy, you old Dogger
