This is not especially unusual except that it was semi-solid about 25cm long and contained what I thought was plastic. When I pulled at it to see what it was, turned out to be a worm, and I ended up doing a science style examination on a piece of paper. It was about 5cm of catfood, 10cm of chewed up mouse (this is where the worm was) and then the rest was a gradual fade from catfood to the sort of poo humans make when they've eaten lots of nuts.

It was quite astonishing. I assume it was cat 2 because I don't think cat 1 hunts, but then cat 1 was definitely in the house and I heard hacking. I have never seen anything like it.

I took a picture. I'm not sure if forum rules allow it. What do you think?

The rules don't say anything about photos of cat puke.

Doubt it would trump the photo of the rabbit puked up by a dog that's been posted on here before.

What makes you think a mouse containing a large worm would need hunting?

I'd be tempted to send a photo to the vet.

I wondered if there was something especially unusual in this thread. I mean, saying "my cat puked" is a bit like saying "my bear just took a dump in the woods".

Cat 1 caught a mouse but now puked due to not being used to hunting?

Or maybe ate a rancid mouse that cat 2 killed earlier?

the sort of poo humans make when they’ve eaten lots of nuts

I've been eating my way through a box of mixed nuts all morning. Can't say I've ever noticed a difference... not sure if I should check next time or not.  Both curious and 🤢

Hang on.

10cm of chewed up mouse (this is where the worm was)

The worm chewed the mouse? Maybe it's a small snake.

Sounds great. Think I'd get kicked out the house, though...

My cat once did a rat, only ate the middle bit, Left the head and front legs, and back legs and arse end. It then puked the middle bit back up to recreate the rat, although not in the correct proportions. That must have been some evening!

and arse end.

The lack of appeal of the arse end explains that well-known expression "he couldn't give a rat's arse".

My landlady's cat once brought in a live bird, which evidently flew around the house shedding many feathers, then the cat ate half of it leaving the other half oozing into the lounge carpet, then it puked the rest up on the kitchen floor. The puke was fairly normal cat puke consistency so nothing remarkable, except of course the landlady was away so guess who had to clear up the mess. For added bonus it was a long straggly haired thing, so you'll never guess what happened when the un-puked up bit evidently exploded out the other end. Clue - it was around the same time Phoebe from friends did "that" song.

25cm long? thats not a mouse it's a rat. And a big one.

although if the cat has been eating hair, that can cause entanglement and a blockage.. so it might be a combination.

Good lord. At least it's not a sludgy one that stains the carpet!

No, that's the worm.  I thought it was maybe a plastic ring pull or something but no.

Try having four. One scofs her food too fast, then five minutes later she pukes it all back.

Are you sure it's not the bottom hoop of a condom?

There isn't a bottom hoop. You must just not be rolling them down far enough...

Would you like some close up pics of the worm? I kept it incase a vet wanted to see it.

But I don't think we'll go to the vet - both cats seem perky and fine, and I'm not sure which one it was anyway.  However it turns out that my wife had fed them some sort of worm remedy that is meant to make them puke or pass worms.  Although I feel it may be the feline equivalent of Picolax.
