2 sofas, free to be collected. On the condition you can collect yourself on Monday morning.

It couldn't be clearer.

So why do people even get in contact asking for them if they can't collect on Monday morning?? 🤷‍♂️🙃

I've taken the advert down, I can't be bothered with people.
I'll check the local charity shop doesn't want them and then take them to the tip if not.

People probably ask on the off chance you can hold them longer if you know someone is coming for them.

Which would be fine if they opened with that, rather than after I've measured it all 3 times for them.

I was selling a big heavy double wardrobe on gumtree and was clear that the buyer had to dismantle and pick up themselves, I would give them a hand loading into van. Had a woman agree to take it then she took to sending me messages asking about when I could deliver it to her, Wednesday afternoon would be best for her. Er, no, you have to collect it yourself as I don't have a van. Neither does she, can't I just help her out and deliver it to her. No, **** off ya mad bint!

If you go the charity shop route, the sofas usually have to have the "carelessness causes fire" labels on them to be collected and recycled.

Don't know if it's still the case, but Sue Ryder charity did collect for free a few years ago (charging is becoming increasingly common), but like all there will be a wait before they can collect... Typically a few weeks, even outside Bank Holiday weeks.

Will you deliver just one of them?

So basically what you're angry about is the people who would take an item of bulky furniture offered for free not having better resources available to them than someone who can afford to give large items of furniture away for free.
🙂

I love these, my best is a local facebook group for buying and selling stuff. Hours of entertainment.

Second hand, filthy, poorly photographed item - why yes it is, I would like £30 more than it costs new from a shop please.

Wanted, white corner sofa, must be in excellent condition, must be larger than 5 foot but smaller than 5 foot 5, needs to have red stitching, must come with a footstool that is soft but not too soft, you must deliver it to my 3rd floor flat between 4:15 and 4:17 on Thursday but I cant confirm that until 5 minutes before and the sofa must be free as I haven't got much money.

Mrs H has a thing for selling stuff on ebay, which is fine so long as I am not involved at all.

A few times now, I have had to stay in to facilitate a pick up, invariably by a plonker who wants help to load their vehicle and has blatantly brought a vehicle too small and who then starts moaning about this, that and the other.

Mrs H has now been informed that my hourly rate for this work is £20 ph, with a minimum callout charge of £20. Whether this is paid for from the proceeds of the sale or another source is not my concern.

The waiting in for collection stuff seems to have died down a bit now.

Or the moronic people who need a small item "gone today or its going to the tip" like they're playing some sort of recycling blackmail.
