I wonder if they asked him what his faith was before they threw him off?
It's a shame they didn't just ask the bigot to get off instead.
That was my first thought too.

+1
I think I'd be uncomfortable being on a coach with a bigot. Should I express my concerns to the driver?
I feel that the woman had every right to be concerned. However , had it been me in her position, I would have removed myself from the coach and asked to go on another coach, citing my reasons in private to the staff.
So , are we not allowed to act on our suspicions , without it turning into a racist thing ?

😀 Do you ever leave the house?

If your suspicion is that you don't want to travel on the same vehicle as a Muslim because he's a Muslim, no.
I know a chap who works for NE, I'll ask him about it at the weekend.
If the story is true then it's appalling, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would be chucked off a coach just because another passenger complained.
Brown is not a suspicion
Although maybe his eyes were a bit close together too?
Aye,National have a bit previous.
A woman was reportedly kicked off a National Express bus because she was too smelly.
A witness apparently filmed the moment the passenger was removed from the coach at London Victoria Bus Station on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Metro, the onlooker allegedly heard the driver saying to a security official: "What do I do here? I've got a smelly one on."
She was then reportedly taken to the toilet and asked to wash before she got back on the bus, which then set off 15 minutes later.
So , are we not allowed to act on our suspicions , without it turning into a racist thing ?
Of course you're not being serious here are you?
I feel that the woman had every right to be concerned.
For what reason exactly?
she was told it was because he would not put the printer in the undercoach storage
"This is a Ricoh 456xL, possibly the most powerful printer in the world and you have to ask yourself a question: "Has he printed all 600 sheets in the tray or only 599?"..."
If you have a problem with someone on a coach then don't make it theirs unless you have something more substantial than "He looks a bit muslamic."
For what reason exactly?
He had a printer, didn't you read? 😉
revs1972 - MemberSo , are we not allowed to act on our suspicions , without it turning into a racist thing ?
Depends. Are your suspicions due to racism? If so, then you can't turn it into a racist thing, because it's already fully 100% racist.
So , are we not allowed to act on our suspicions , without it turning into a racist thing ?
Suspicion about what exactly? That he was carrying a printer, oh of course that'll be a bomb.
Racist.
Edit: this must surely be a 'joke'.
Did she have a beard?
A woman was reportedly kicked off a National Express bus because she was too smelly.
Could probably do with this on the trains too!
Caught the train home from London last night after spending 48hours in the same clothes, eating, drinking (lots), and sleeping (not so much). If I'm passing judgement then you've got issues...........
And why is it that all food on trains smells the same (and awful, like hot, gone off milk)?
sounds like my mother 😳
Passengers were told the man had been asked to leave because he had too much [s]luggage[/s] baggage
Unfortunately, all Muslims now carry this around with them (at least in the eyes of a few), especially following the recent terrorist attacks.

I could understand it if it had been an alarm clock...

I like to think that if I got the paranoia's in this situation, I would try and talk to the guy. Just a hello or something. If he appeared to be dripping with sweat and unable to talk, I would remove myself from the coach. I certainly don't think I would develop a righteous sense of entitlement over another member of public based on their religious appearance, if there is such a thing.
It could have been a battery operated 3D printer and he could have printed out a Škorpion Pistol and shot everyone on the coach, and then we would have been criticizing the coach driver for not having spotted the risk and chucked him off the coach.

Like 'hello, just checking you're not a terrorist, you can never be too careful and obviously with you looking like a Muslim it's possible. Hope you're not offended.' 🙄
thanks aracer - link fixed (after much head scratching)
Imagine this scenario;
What if he was a terrorist and he did have a bomb....would the women who complained now be hailed as heroes for having a questioning attitude? Afterall, they'd have just saved the lives of a bus load of folk.

He'd have set the bomb off wouldn't he, instead of getting off the bus.
"oi, you, is that a bomb?"
"Aaawwww, bugger. It's a fair cop"
Not before bursting into song hopefully.
Take the National Express when your life's in a mess
It'll make you smile
All human life is here
From the feeble old dear to the screaming child
From the student who knows that to have one of those
Would be suicide *BOOM*

Unless - maybe they're just that easy to defeat? "Oi - ISIS - Nooooo!!!"
It's going to be really difficult once they spot if they have a shave, wear a suit and put their bombs in a proper briefcase nobody will complain and they'll be able to blow us up without any fuss like this.
Afterall, they'd have just saved the lives of a bus load of folk
But how would 'they' know he had a bomb? Or did they check his printer for Semtex, or whatever the latest explosive is.
Good point - maybe he was actually a bomber.
But how would 'they' know he had a bomb? Or did they check his printer for Semtex, or whatever the latest explosive is.
That's the point; they wouldn't have known. They were making presumptions based on his appearance. And luckily, the bomb was set to detonate via a timer, mid coach journey.
Well he didn't own anyone.

Oh yes, exactly like that. While wielding a pair of Rockshox XL Judy's to club the guy with if he answered wrong.
I have been known to introduce myself to and converse with other humans without causing offense. Its a life skill that I have found useful.

Even ones that are actually real life terrorists?

So he did have a bomb then?
Bearnecessities, you're a giant among lesser men

Surely the bomb would be activated once the coach went over 50mph and then detonate when the bus slowed to below 50
Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick.
Yes, he had a bomb. But thankfully racists saved the day.
It was probably a printer he had 'cleverly' made for a school project...
If he's a man with presumably a beard, what's he still doing at school?
Paedo?

No because it is just utter bollocks the chances of the racist woman being correct are so vanishingly small you would have to condone Mass exclusion from public transport for all sorts of groups, Men (all rapists)Christians ( homophobic murderers of DRs ) Jews ( they kill Palestinians ) Palestinians ( they kill jews ) Irish ( catch all blame group) I could go on but it is tedious ..
If he's a man with presumably a beard, what's he still doing at school?
When I was at school, in 4th year so 15, there was a guy with a ginger beard in our year. He wasn't Muslim, or a racist, might be now though, both or either. He wasn't a pedo at that time, too young probably.
okay ... the thread has now developed into or am I right in reading that ...
A Muslamic man who was going to detonate a bomb using semtex disguised as printer cartridge was being found out and later thrown out from boarding the coach by a racist woman, the racist woman is now a hero.
😆
edit: ... and the people on the bus have been referred to as chronic self indulgents.

And I think that proves you should never judge a book by it's cover.
Wasn't it "Bus Stop Winkers" IIRC?
Hope he sues.
I don't get it...
We're encouraged to report suspicious activity or persons are we not? I mean you've only got to stand on a train platform for 4mins these days to hear two announcements of that kind..
Did the woman actually say she thought he was acting or behaving suspiciously? It's hard to read into the story because we only seem to get one side of it.
Just sayin.
as per usual a non story, man gets on coach with large piece of luggage, and is asked to place it in the under floor lockers, due to the risk of an accident and the large piece of luggage injuring another passenger, if luggage doesnt fit in the overhead lockers then it should go under floor, as on all airlines.
Both the coach and bus station will have cctv, and a full invetigation will be undertaken by National express and the coach operator.
I still don't understand how anyone knew he was a Muslim?
(Other than the turban of course)

A gentleman is let on the coach despite his luggage, a woman complains as he looks shifty. So they make the excuse he has too much luggage.
Perhaps she would have been less inclined to complain if there were sections on the bus for different types of people to sit in. What could possibly go wrong then?
there are rules regarding what a passenger can take on a psv or coach, driver was just enforcing the rules.
must remember to complain next time i go NE, about a shifty passenger,it does seem to have quite a few

I think that was an attempt at humour by ninfan. Although he might appear incredibly daft at times I don't think he's that uneducated.
did the two parts of this story intertwine and form a good story for a local paper, 3 sides to this story, NE side , the woman who complained and the truth.
Megabus also run to london from Bristol and offer cheaper fairs.
I wouldnt want to be travelling on a coach with an unrestrained printer sitting on the seat near me, remember its a legal requirment to wear a seat belt on all coaches, by all pasengers and the driver, so that in the even of a collision pasengers are not flung round the coach and through the windows

Surely the sensible solution would have been to just simply ensure that the printer was wearing a seat belt ?

Nice to see things have moved on so far in Bristol.

How shifty can someone look?
Will the paper find said fello and print a picture, and we all backtrack saying "to be fair".

I hate that app too. 😐

Edit: I thought pinterest was one of those sexy-apps! Move along, nothing to see here 🙂
I'm struggling to believe this is a real version of events. The person asked to get off the bus needs to come forward to the Police as if he was aksed the leave the bus due to religious discrimination the driver and National Express need to be prosecuted.
(amazingly no one has done this yet) why didn't they just sort out the printer
Will the paper find said fello and print a picture
Have they not got their own printer?
Last time I sat next to a muslimist on the train he gave me a packet of crisps. Good times. You obviously get a different class of people on busses compared to trains though so I knew I wouldn't get blown up.

I don't get it...We're encouraged to report suspicious activity or persons are we not?
We are, but "being brown" isn't suspicious in and of itself.
This whole story is odd, and I suspect we're getting snippets of 'facts' rather than a realistic overview of what happened. It's not clear (to me) from the report as to what made the women nervous; whether it was their racism, whether he'd "invented a clock" and was being deliberately provocative, or whether he had an explosive LaserJet 4 in his hand luggage.
Perhaps the biggest mistake is, the driver making the call rather than escalating it within NE?
Perhaps the biggest mistake is, the driver making the call rather than escalating it within NE?
you still dont get it the DRIVER, man who actually drives the coach IS THE MAN OR WOMAN IN CHARGE OF THE COACH AND THE SAFETY OF ITS PASSENGERS, like i said previously the driver will be interviewed annd so will the coach station staff , on board and external cctv will be examined and a report produced, and will be acted upon.
Get on a plane and more onerouus rules always apply, and the captain always has the first and last word or the plane doesnt move or lands at first available airport.
Religion has nothing to do with passenger safety.
Cougar - Moderatorwhether he'd "invented a clock" and was being deliberately provocative
Are you implying that Ahmed Mohamed was being deliberately provocative?
