Random spotify browsing this morning gave me this:
Brass band cover of The Prodigy. Love it.
What have you got?
And this from an old Cotic Video
Fugazi x Wu Tang
interesting but not a patch on Brass Against I'm afraid
She WAILS
Frank Sinatra: 'fly me to the moon' and The Doors: 'break on through to the other side'
No linky, just mix it in your head.
As proper Mashups go -
Dean Gray, American Edit - google it, can't seem to link the whole album, only Track 1 shows up
Wouldn't say I never thought I'd love it, but Hot 8 Brass Band to similar mashups and they're great. Was due to see them just as Covid hit
Hackney Colliery Band's cover of Toto's Africa is pretty good too, amongst a few others they've done.
Pretty much all of Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies catalogue is good too
You'll hate yourself for liking this, but...
Rick seems to like it though, there's a few vids on YT of him doing a spot in Foo Fighters gigs 🙂
Not sure how R.E.M feel about this one (comic swearing)
If you like that then check out James Taylor Quartet and their take on the starsky and hutch theme tune
Sabbath and Zep
I love the rhythms del mundo mash up of the arctic monkeys
Yeah love that Fugazi one up there 👆
Some of the above are covers Shirley, not mash-ups.
Oh well.
I love the Nine Inch Nails and Taylor Swift mash up.
Actually all the Nine Inch Nails ones are pretty good.
Brass Against are just bloody brilliant, got eternally rescheduled tickets for them in Glasgow, hope it comes together some time...
For real mashups, I love this. Especially how it just baaaarely hangs together in the chorus
But nothing can compare to this. It's Biggie Smalls so yes there are grownup words.
This one makes me feel like I'm on drugs. In my eyes, the fact that it's imperfect just adds to the effect, it's a mash up, not a blend.
Can't claim credit, think it was @jumkil that linked it first.
No evidence of this unfortunately, but years ago (about 13) there was a tinkerer called Helix. They did a mashup of Christina Aguilera's Dirty and the theme tune to Steptoe & Son. It was brilliant.
This is one of my favourites:
A couple of my favourites - James Hetfield and the News, Hip to be the Sandman
And The Ting Tings vs The Knack vs Toni Basil
That ting tings/the knack one is so perfect, it's just overwritten the originals completely in my brain
Lots of stuff for me to check out now, thanks!
FWIW, I love Girl Talk for mashup albums. DJ Yoda's pretty damn good, too.
