You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I’ve been a subscriber to Spotify Premium for a few years. I was going to upgrade to the family subscription but the explicit filter makes it pointless. My kids usually just ask Alexa to play the Top 50, but pretty much 50% of the songs would be filtered out. There doesn’t appear to be an option to automatically replace explicit songs with the radio edit version.
Do any other subscription services have a cleverer explicit filter?
I have Premiunm Family and there's no explicit filter. It states explicit on the tracklist, but plays it. Can't see anything in settings to have it as an option.
Yes there is... it's in Settings - I would have thought that each account would be different though.
Op, to be honest and unless they're 6 years old, they hear all the words every day at school.
Yeah, it’s in settings here:

I don’t think mine hear swear words at school as much as they seem to be scattered in pop music. You can’t even listen to Pink or Katy Perry without hearing swear words. Just doing my best to keep my kids polite and innocent for as long as possible.
Well, I tried Deezer but not a huge fan as it doesn't integrate as nicely with my Amazon Echos.
Has anyone tried Amazon Music - does it automatically replace explicit songs with the radio edit version?
Amazon Music was the most family friendly choice for us when we started with Alexa. Can’t recall any swearage.
However, the missus and I have eclectic tastes which Spotify is better at catering for. But the latter explicit filter is shit TBH. Plenty of songs are not marked as explicit yet they contain blatant swearing, including the F word. All you can do is report those tracks and hope Spotify act on it at some point. Doubt it though. Bit late of course as the younger ones will have heard it.
I've got the explicit filter turned on for my son and off for me and it seems to work well, until the kids use my phone to stream music in the car.....
Slightly off topic, but I use amazon music unlimited for family streaming as understandably, it is designed to integrate with echos easily and conveniently. If your kids want to play their own music via an echo dot or equivalent, the separate accounts and profiles required to make spotify work was too much effort for me. A shame as I really like Spotify, and will look again if they can resolve this or Amazon enable them to resolve it (which I suspect is the case).
I am sure I have the explicit filter set, but it did not stop me enjoying Rage Against the Machine yesterday.
