Inspired be the de-cluttering thread, it may be time to get rid of my vast collection of CD's. With this in mind, has any used Music Magpie or similar to make a couple of quid off this? How was the experience and indeed the price you received? I'm not expecting to get lots of money but some is better than lots of unused CD's.
A couple of quid is about right, i think they offered me around £1 each when I last looked.
i think they offered me around £1 each when I last looked.
Still £500 off quid that I wouldn't have without doing it though!
I used this a few years back when I went fully digital.
i had maybe 4 or 5 hundred to get rid of, made 500 or 600 quid from memory.
I had a number of CDs that made me more than a fiver each, a lot went for under a pound.
Have sent them a fair bit of stuff never had a problem just the occasional game or CD they alleged was incomplete/damaged/not as described
The app works well
Haven't considered this for a while due to the need to enter all CD details, that app makes it much easier (heads off for a rummage in the loft).
Last time I looked they were offering about 15p a cd, which put me off as I thought £45 for 300 odd CDs was a bit rubbish. If they are offering £1 a cd though, then that may change my mind.
Depends what you have. If you lots of old chart stuff you'll get 30p a disk, that's if they even take them. If you have more obscure stuff you can get up to £3.50 each.
The couple of times I've used them have been smooth and I've been paid exactly what I was quoted. Make sure the cases are all good though or they'll deduct.
If you have a tidy collection that dovetails with mine then i may be interested in some/all.

I sold some a couple of years ago and got £1 a CD a couple got a few quid more a couple even got made £5
Just went on the site and entered a couple of bar codes as thinking of getting rid of some more and was getting 30p a cd.
For goodness' sake, do it via the phone app. You just point the phone camera at the CD barcode and that's it. I didn't know it was a thing and so spent the best part of a weekend entering UPC numbers on the laptop.
On a couple of occasions they were a little slow at making payment
just been having a play with the app for all our dvds and cds. most are 30p, a lot are 15p. dont know whether to bother or not.
just been having a look at old threads on here about it and people are saying "list them here, we'll have a look" but how much would postage for a dvd or cd be these days? how much would i have to sell them for here to make it worth selling separately?
dont mind going to the effort to make a bit more but if it was just for an extra tenner or somethings it just doesnt seem worth the hassle.
spose thats why they pay so low, they know people just cant be bothered.....
anyone tried any of the others that google comes up with? ziffit, momox, zapper, webuybooks or decluttr?
I scanned a stack about two feet tall of DVDs at the weekend, mostly (in my opinion) classics rather than just random films - I was offered just shy of £10, included in that was £3 odd for the two Phoenix nights DVDs...
My LCS (Local Charity Shop) will be getting a donation instead.
I'm with lerk - charity shop all the way for my bland offerings! The charity wins and I'm not losing much.
I've gone through the same thought process and it's all going to local charity shops instead. Just not worth the hassle for a fairly low amount of cash.
