Hello All
Having dabbled in making music on my computer some years ago I am keen to get back into it. Years ago I had a Mac and Logic and a controller keyboard. It was too much - too much in terms of complexity and the infinite knob twiddling possibilities - and ended up putting me off.
I would like to get a much simpler setup not entirely based around a computer. I have been looking at keyboard workstations with sequencers built in, but then it occurred to me that I could hook a synth up to my iPad to use as a simple sequencer so maybe I don't need one built in to the keyboard? I am keen not to go down the 'typical computer' route again. Can anyone offer any guidance? The one thing I would like is a large keyboard with proper weighted keys for when I want to play piano only.
I do everything in garageband. I use an irig to connect my guitar (so similar for your keyboard) and away i go. its piss easy and much less faff than proper kit. Pretty good results too.
Most midi keyboards with USB midi will work with an iPad & the USB camera kit, though the keyboard may need to have it's own power supply.
