Seem to have found my ideal style of music for riding to (off road, at night, aware of the risks etc etc), and it's Lemon Jelly's 64-95

Seems they only have 2 or 3 albums though. Anyone got anything of a similar theme they can recommend?

Kevin

Zero7. Air. Some daft punk. Frou Frou. A lot of jamiroquai albums have instrumentals on.

Get Bent.

Music by the band of that name, obvs.

And Burt Bacharach's greatest hits if you really want to take the lounge out onto the trail.

Get yourself on Spotify and setup the radio, great way to discover new stuff, in line with stuff you already like.

Lemon Jelly are brilliant KY is one of my favorite albums - There's nothing exactly like them, but lots of good recommendations here.. I'd add Bonobo and Thievery Corporation to the list.

+1 Kid Loco

And check this out...

From a criminally underrated 1997 album on Bungalow, Spring & Friends.

Hopefully still available to buy via DL and highly recommended.

Thanks all. A good range of suggestions there - and quite a few repetitions that must be worth a listen.

Very much liking that Kid Loco you tube thing above - I presume that's the whole album?

It is, and he also did an awesome collection of his remixes with an "artistic" cover, this is my fave...

hold down a chord of C pluck a fretted bass string with the thumb of the right hand....

Lemon Jelly kick(ed?) ass. Don't actually know if they've jacked it in or just having a long rest.

Got some pretty good LJ mixes in aac format for my old phone can't seem to find the mp3 originals to stick on my current mp3 player tho 🙁

definitley heard mr scruff mentioned as similar not tracked any down myself tho, I like mint royale too but wouldn't say they were *that* similar.

Just looking at that CD amongst others on ebay. Some of them are worth buying for the album covers alone [/perv]

That CD's great, but listen to the later stuff before you shell out for it - he had a bit of a change of direction.

Saw the,m live a few times. They were great! I remember seeing them at Manchester Academy 3, when they first released KY. They gave everyone a goody bag when you came in with their (brilliant) artwork, badges and balloons and stuff in. And some bingo cards. Then instead of the support band, they had a few games of Bingo to win signed, framed original artwork. Reading the numbers out while they were dressed as grim reapers. It was bizarre. I've got a massive A0 signed print of the artwork to KY 😀

Some good suggestions above. Try the Kings of Convenience or Erlend Øye's solo stuff, particularly his DJ Kicks album

"Inform Educate Entertain" by Public Service Broadcasting is the best album I've heard in a very long time.

Hence the comment about moving on a bit. Kind of like I have over the years from The Orb, Orbital, Lemon Jelly etc. now have all that plus Public Service broadcasting, Mogwai etc etc. all work well for me when riding and when I'm in the same kind if mood generally and want to listen to music.

So much music to explore, so little time.

It's good to know that there are still some gems out there waiting to get discovered (by me!)

Mogwai is a band I've wanted to explore for years (literally!). Think I'll be getting my money's worth from Spotify this month...

Not exactly like Lemon Jelly, but I enjoy a lot of what has been recommended above and would suggest you try and find some Hexstatic. Really enjoying them just now. Found by listening on Jango.com. Tremendous for finding new sources of listening.
