Hello,
I'm looking for smallish live-music venues in Lincoln/Nottingham/surrounding area, maybe Peterborough or Boston. Something with a 100-500 capacity where the lesser known bands play, not something like RockCity where the crowds are huge and one has to buy tickets months in advance, entry on the door would be much prefered. If anyone knows Oxford something like the Zodiac would be ideal (or how it was when I was living down there in the early 2000s)
.
Actually, reading that it sounds like I'm a promoter, I'm not, just looking for a good night out in an area I don't know terribly well.
.
Any recomendations much appreciated, google isn't helping very much.
.
Thanks.
Rescue rooms, Nottingham?
+1 Rescue Rooms
Have you been to Rock City? In case you haven't its not actually very big and you can usually get a ticket if you turn up to a gig.
The Contemporary Gallery cafe usually has a band on Saturdays. Fun chilled out vibe.
There are usually live bands on in several pubs in the City, just walk around and go in the one you like the sound or look of. There's something for everyone.
The Rock/Metal karaoke at the Salutation is worth seeing for novelty value if you've not experienced it.
Open mic night in the Bell on Sundays?
Blues in the Lacemarket near to Broadway?
Hope that helps!
Engine shed in lincoln usually gets some, theres also a place up the top of the hill...though its name escapes me, ive seen a few local bands play there....
+1 for the engine shed, great venue.
+1 for Rescue Rooms too.
Also try the Maze in Notts, small-room-over-pub type venue.
