Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

😆

That is quality and dedicated trolling of the highest order. Some big hitters of this parish need to watch and learn.

I can't decide if this video is a troll or a genuine member of CAD

Either way it's funny.
Edit has to be a troll

Invented?

Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

I'm in 8)

One of the first posts I read is;

What I find I interested is that the jokers here are Irish/English, the ones that really believe in the lack of dinosaurs are American and the ones saying all this is rubbish are a mix of English mums and Americans with no sense of humour.

Which suggest that some of you are already in there... 😆

well, given it turns out that Dippy the Dinosaur is being removed from the lobby of the natural history museum after being exposed as a fake, perhaps they are on to something?

As JHJ would say...I'm not saying it's true, but it makes you think!

First I've heard that it's a fake, it's not real (it's a cast) if that's what you meant? But that's hardly news.

First thing I did as soon as I saw the link. It seems to be full of obvious trolls. Shall have to see if I can be a little more subtle. There goes another few hours of my life...

Of course Poe applies to both the MN and FB pages

Love the search history in the video clip. Clearly VERY interested in what dinosaurs might have got up to if they weren't fictional

They let me in, so they'll probably let anybody in. Spamming my newsfeed, so I'll probably get bored soon, but for the time being it's fun trolling all the new mumsnet members being very serious about the existence of dinosaurs - surprised how few people are playing that game.

We have the original one here in Pittsburgh.

And there's a big fiberglass one outside, too. wiki

Favourite comment so far

In my book, it's ok to teach dinosaurs in school, but it needs to be balanced with equal emphasis on other creatures. I would love my children to learn about unicorns, for example, or centaurs, or even sabre-toothed tigers, but, no, it's always the ****ing dinosaurs.

I know we live in a country that embraces dinosaurism and holds it close to our hearts, but if we don't open our hearts to other creatures, mythical or otherwise, then, frankly, our future looks bleak.

Dinosaurism? I'm going to use that in future next time the subject of religion or politics comes up at dinner party.

I can't stop giggling at this bit:

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face.

To be fair, the fact it generated 40 pages of replies does indicate that it was not a STWer. If it was one of us we would have been outed, flounced or hit with a ban hammer long before they did.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure that the descriptive plaque below the skeleton reveals the fact that it's a replica cast in plaster from the Pittsburgh original.
Anyone actually expressing surprise that it's a fake that has been deceiving people for years deserves to have small children point at them in the street and laugh.
Loudly.

Got ten pages in, enjoying it so very much, I've saved it onto my homescreen for quiet enjoyment.
Many thanks to HH for the post and link, so much fun to be had, shame it's been closed to new replies.

'The creepy bike geek from work is really starting to freak me out, I'm gonna tell him that I believe in unicorns or something.. hopefully that'll make him leave me alone'

Many years ago when i still lived at home my mum had both me and my father in stitches when she was adamant that Seahorses werent real, she then dug deeper and reeled off a load of other 'fictional' animals including....dinosaurs.

Wimmin eh?!

I've just been having a quick read through on mumsnet (I'm not joining the fb group - too scared)

At first I was in support of the mockery and there were some very witty retorts, but thinking about it..
If a dinosaur had forced itself on my child I'd probably hold a bit of a grudge too

She also thought cheese grows on trees "my mum has a cheese plant" another question was "how many cows do they kill for a 4 pint bottle of milk?"
