As someone who hates going on holiday and sitting about. And is a fussy bastard when it comes to food & do not drink alcohol I am not really looking forward to the family holiday at the end of the month.

Aphrodite Hills Resort is where we are off to which is in the South, where can I hire and ride a bike?

I was there in May and used http://www.akamas-mountainbike-tours.com/

It may be a bit out of his area but I know he covers Paphos so might be worth a go.  Paul grew up in the UK then moved back to Cyprus, rides road and MTB and has the best maintained hire bikes I've ever seen.  Really flexible and accomodating, will drop bikes off for you to use or do guiding etc.

I was there in June & like thepurist I used Paul at Akamas Mountain Bike Tours.

I've ridden in a few places around the world & Paul is the most professional outfit I have ever used. Top quality bikes & equipment, great guide & he's as fit as a butchers dog 🙂

Drop him an email & see what he can do for you?

I also used Paul for a couple of days. Whyte bikes, pristine. Top guy, did a flat 25mile first day then into the hills on the second. Don't try and keep up with him!!!

Never been, but I’ve heard good things from people who’ve ridden with Paul.

They aren't far from Aphrodite Hills, I've ridden with them several times, Al and Kirsty are great company. There are good trails in the Troodos mountains and along the Akamas Peninsula.

That's all quite handy. I've stayed at Aphrodite Hills but didn't ride last time.

I'm off to Cyprus in a couple of weeks so this topic was topical, so to say.

I'll drop Paul a line but I'll be at the other end of the island staying in Aiya Napa! Does anyone have any contacts for this side of the Island, or at least the East side?

TIA

Well I’m here in Cyprus, there is no way I can ride a bike in this heat.

My out of shape nearly 50 body is burning and I’m drinking water 💦 and pissing all the time.

maybe next time

I lived there for 10 years, I’ve no experience on hiring bikes but July and August you have to be done by 10am.

the trodos is slightly cooler by about 5 degrees. Double what ever water you think you may need.

there is some great riding from where you are but some devil thorns they look like 3 pronged round little beggars was the main reason I went tubeless out there.

I was there this time 2 years ago and I’d considered taking the full susser. I’m glad I didn’t in the end because as said above it was ridiculously hot just walking around
