Hi folks,

We’re off on holiday to near Saou in France in a few months with her parents and our what will be one year old.

However we’re taking bikes so hoping to get one day where we can hit up any bikeparks. Does anyone know of any good riding around there at all?
It seems that col de rousset is likely our best shot but wondered if anyone else has experience down there? Our driving limit is probably an hour as for that day the parents will look after him so driving for hours to somewhere won’t be possible.

Many thanks

Bikeparks in terms of chairlift assisted riding? The nearest will be Villard de Lans and probably not worth the trek.
Not aware that Col de Rousset does lift assisted riding. It's far from steeep skiing. But the Hauts Plateuax is great landscape. The GTV bike route might interest you but it's tame technically and misses out the most scenic bits of the Haut Plateaux: for that you'll need to be on foot.

Saou is great road ridng terrain. As is most of the Drome. Scratch that the area is great in general. It's about an hour from me and I know it quite well. There's more traditional XC signposted type riding in the area: VTT FFC

For bike parky stuff, the are two in the Drome.
You've got 4 Seasons in Nyons. Run by an association, you just need to pay a tenner online for open access or organise shuttles with Baronnies Bike. Well maintained trails, but they'll close in advance if there's a hint of bad weather. Keep an eye on their social media accounts for updates just in case.
Also there's VBC at Saint Vincent la Commanderie. We haven't been there, but I've had good feedback.

Oh that’s superb thank you very much for the advice and information. We’ll look into both of those, we also ride roadies so that’s an interesting option too although if it’s roadie territory I can imagine it’s hilly is it? With us having our little one only two in October we’re both not terribly bike fit 🤣

It's a lovely spot. Only been there for climbing. I'd probably take a road bike though, and eat my bodyweight in cheese.
