I've got a wire break at the connector end of the battery to lamp cable. The barrel socket is the moulded type so cannot be opened up.
If I cut it off, strip back the sleeving and resolve the break, what replacement connector will I need?

I's female and approx. 6.5mm in diameter.

If it helps, it's a MTB Batteries battery pack.

Thanks.

DS

Most connectors come pre moulded, you may find it easier to get an extension cable then chop the end off to the required length and splice that onto the battery or cable.

Find you closest Maplin store, go there and try and find someone helpful (not as difficult as it sounds)

They will then help identify it for you and will have anything else (such as adaptors that might help you

Ideally get them to open the packet to check the connectors fit properly (in my instance two looked identical, but there was a 0.5mm difference so you could not tell by eye). If not open the packet outside and try it before you drive home

Depending on the connector type you are probably looking at less than £5.00

Have you tried asking Smudge at MTB Batteries?

You'll probably need to speak to Smudge as you'll need to make sure you get the wires the right way round. It might be centre positive or centre negative..get it wrong and you'll probably blow the light.
