Has anybody done the programme to the end, and felt real benefits?

Thinking of doing the programme, but would like real feedback other than Google reviews.

Just had a look on the website - looks like 3x gym sessions and 2x interval sessions on the bike. Not sure if a weekend ride is extra!

If it helps and will keep you motivated - go for it.

I’ve signed up to Wahoo X (or whatever its called) and will follow that and going to the gym as well.

I guess the consistency is the most important part - doing it when you can’t be asked - as well as eating a cleaner diet.

I’m on week 9 currently. I use a combination of resistance bands, dumbbells and barbell weights at home and do intervals either discretely on the hill where I live or on my commute.

I like it. I’m definitely stronger and ache less.

The intensity is spot on, by gradually ramping up it means I’ve never felt skipping a session, even when on a two week family holiday.

Yes it’s brilliant, will get real world results from this! I will say I wasn’t able to get the interval bike time in it needs and still toned up and got stronger!

Some of the exercises are HARD but yes fully recommend it!

I've completed it several times over the past few years and will use it to structure workouts to maintain fitness after completion. Then life gets in the way and lose a bit of fitness so I start it again, everytime it gets easier so I can see that it is installing baseline fitness.

There's a good FB group as well for support and inspiration.

Those that have it, can you confirm its 3xdays a week gym training and two days a week interval training.

The ‘riding’ part of the plan doesn’t seem a lot? (If I have it right)

Yes. Although I incorporate the intervals in my riding  sometimes.

Before you spend money on the plan, I can recommend the road.cc six week plan which is free. It's also exclusively on the bike. It's a bit road oriented but I do most of the sessions on my MTB and just for them around decent descents where possible. It's two rides plus an optional third ride a week plus your regular rides.

It works nicely for me - I do it before every race and this year in particular it's got me some good podium results, and my descending is faster. As someone who hates gyms and turbo trainers it works nicely for me.

Yes, I've been through it and about to start again as I've had a few months out of the gym through illness ad injury.

Definitely stronger and more resilient on rides as a result.

I didn't do the interval sessions though, I've used sufferfest/wahoo systm for ages and like the structure of the plans on there.

I've been tempted by this plan for a while but there is so many different free plans out there that I'm unsure if this is worth it. Garmin Connect also have training plans for free, even a mountain bike one, these can be targeted for a set event date and take into account of your current fitness and age. I'd be more inclined to use the Garmin one especially if you have a Garmin device.
I've tried to follow training plans in the past but prefer to ride to what the weather and trail conditions are like.

This is my current weekly plan made up by me which fits in around my work and life commitments for reference:
Monday. Gym - 45 minutes
Tuesday. Cycle - 2 hour mixed zone ride
Wednesday. Cycle - 1 hour mixed zone
Thursday. Swimming - 1 mile breaststroke
Friday. Gym - 45 minutes
Saturday. Cycle - 3 hours easy zone 2
Sunday. Cycle - 1 hour hard intervals

I’m similarly tempted by it but not sure of using an online training plan. Can’t help but think I could find some similar training tips and plans which I could adapt. But I know I won’t stick to those…..but what I’m not sure about is why I would stick with an online plan like this (other than I’ve paid £50 for it!)

Matt recommends working towards a specific goal for it to work and you to keep focused. I haven’t needed one though.

The fact it’s all worked out, 6 days a week for 12 weeks without getting boring and I’ve spent money is enough to get me to stick with it.

@jimster01,I've just finished week one of British Cycling's Sofa to 50K program. It's well thought out and has plenty of rest days. The gradual build up of riding times will also reduce any chance of injury or tiredness.Plus it's free!🙂
